Job Focus:
Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field based medical function where 80% of his/ her time allocated is spent in
the field in the respective territory.
The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) provides scientific expertise, build knowledge and activity-based relationships with Key Opinion Leaders to advance medical practice and research for the benefit of the society, thus enhancing Pfizer s image in the medical and scientific community across Saudi Arabia.
MSL role will act as a critical interface with identified scientific leaders and will build regional, national or international relationships to contribute to understanding of diseases, research and scientific trends, clinical practice guidelines, treatment patterns in the relevant therapeutic areas (Vaccines).
MSL provides a bridge between clinical research and the marketing department as well as the remaining departments within the organization.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
• MSL is responsible for KOL management related to his/her own therapeutic specialty and is the medical partner for KOLs across the markets, using medical resources and capabilities to develop long term partnerships with individual HCPs, medical universities and institutes aiming to direct Pfizer resources and initiatives for the best well-being of patients and treatment outcomes.
• To provide geographical focus and customer knowledge and insights, as members of Medical and Scientific Affairs team, to the development of the in-country clinical plan and to feed into above-country and global clinical plan (for marketed products as well as for those in development)
• To provide medical and scientific information to healthcare professionals in response to their specific requests for Pfizer to present, orally or otherwise, clinical data about marketed products and important scientific information on new products, or those in development
• To liaise with healthcare professionals to effectively communicate and manage drug safety issues emanating from the region or of a national or international nature
• To support study and site feasibilities led by the clinical research team to ensure effective implementation of clinical plan as well as to develop effective relationships with a strong network of local clinicians and researchers
• To support in the identification of and subsequent interaction with investigators for expanded access programs for drugs during pre-approval phase; to support Medical and/or Scientific Advisers in the design and implementation of named patient supply in accordance with Regulations and Pfizer policy
• To review & approve Pfizer meeting content, promotional materials, grants based on merits and scientific content. He/she provides the needed FCPA reviews and supports the teams with necessary advices and trainings
• To be engaged in the scientific discussions and collaborate with medical managers in strategies, tactics and educational programs.
• Execute Medical Awareness &; Educational programs to maximize Disease area penetration
• Provide proactive input in the strategic medical management and marketing
• Develop and organize medical activities in coordination with the Marketing group, such as: Local & regional workshops, scientific symposia, local &; Int l speakers tours.
• To prepare and compile medical resources / Products Scientific data/Clinical articles/Publications /Studies/Journals/Slide-kits and Presentations, to be used according to local SOPs
• He/she is responsible for planning and conducting local clinical studies when required through identifying opportunities of local clinical trials and/or investigators (Interventional, Epidemiological, IIRs etc.) to generate local data and support its publications in cooperation with the internal and external stakeholders. Also, generating innovative ideas for new clinical programs and medical projects that address the unmet medical needs related to Patient outcomes.
• He/she provides a bridge between clinical research and the marketing and sales department as well as the remaining departments within the organization. He/she specifically provides an authoritative opinion and answers medically based questions concerning medical, legal and regulatory matters.
• He/she is responsible for developing and implementing strategic medical directions within key therapeutic areas
• Drive & develop the Medical Programs & Campaigns aligned with marketing and company Business Objectives.
• Develop, recruit and train local Speakers within the frame of local SOPs.
• Design and execute Advisory Boards for respective therapeutic areas to gain customer insights and address the unmet medical needs in Saudi Arabia.
• Answer medical or technical questions concerning protocol and product.
• Provide training and education to internal staff and participate in protocol development if necessary.
• Share knowledge and technical expertise with other team members while providing medical training to field representatives and other internal staff
• Ensure compliance to Pfizer SOPs and local regulations in all promotional/ non- promotional activities and materials. Ensure adherence to compliance/company procedures & policies (SOP s)

• External (KOLs, Speakers, Decision Makers, Local Medical Societies and MOH)
Requirements:
• Medical background (MD, MBBS, MBBCH) Physician or Pharmacist. Board certification and/or sub-specialty fellowship in a major medical field is a plus.
• Experience in a relevant Pharmaceutical industry/ medical field. Experience in vaccines or Anti-Infective TA is a plus.
• Excellent and proven scientific and technical expertise. Experience of interaction at a highly scientific and technical level e.g. Specialist level is a plus
• Communication skills, both written and verbal (including medical writing and presentation skills) and cross-functional team collaboration
• Analytical skills and reasoning, and sound medical judgment/decision making
• Interpersonal skills, internal & external networking and the ability to impact and influence others
