Operates digital radiology equipment to produce a high standard of radiographic images.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Reviews exam orders/requisitions, reviews corresponding protocol and, if needed, asks questions of senior(s) and prepares for exams as needed.
2. Identifies patients following the hospital identification policy.
3. Explains procedure, prepares and instructs the patient for the examination.
4. Prepares equipment, and supplies.
5. Monitors patient condition during and after procedure to ensure patient safety and comfort.
6. Attaches and/or adjusts immobilizing and -shielding devices as needed to ensure precise patient position, patient comfort, and to minimize patient exposure to x-rays .
7. Selects and adjusts patient positioning (lifting when required) for each projection to ensure diagnostic images are obtained, and to apply correct exposure correct techniques..
8. Retrieves information from computer and processes information in the proper format for interpretation by the Radiologist and/or archiving. Documents all studies performed.
9. Cleans equipment and room and restores all equipment and supplies for subsequent use.
10. Performs quality control studies on equipment. Informs supervisor of equipment malfunction or need for repair and documents.
11. Transports portable equipment to patient areas for x-rays.
12. Participates in staff meetings, in-services and/or continuing education.
13. Assists in training and supervision of students, interns and trainees.
14. Participates in self s and others education, training, and development as applicable.
15. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
Education
Bachelor s or Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, or successful completion of specialized training at KFSH in Radiological Sciences/Technology is required.
Experience Required
Grade (7):One (1) year of related experience with Bachelor s or two (2) years of with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
Grade (8): Four (4) years of experience as a Senior Radiology Technician at KFSH&RC;. Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years. Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME] is required.
Other Requirements(Certificates)
Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required. For Non-Saudis: Registration in Radiography with American Registry of Radiographic Technologists or the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists or equivalent are required.
