Embedded Software Technician

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Technician, responsible to design/execute & complete embedded software development for devices and systems. He/She will also assist in fabrication of electrical/electronic devices and testing/calibration of Electronic equipment’s. He/She will demonstrate a strong expertise and learn from new challenges and possess the communication skills necessary to work within a highly interactive and multidisciplinary team. He/She will demonstrate strong passion for discovery, is energized about design thinking, thrives in diversity and can grasp both the big picture and minute technical details.

Scope of work:

Major Responsibilities:

Design, build and test software for embedded devices and systems as per requirements.
Responsible for standards and documentation of software development.
Responsible for completing finished projects within agreed upon delivery time.
Contributes by providing design input and participating in design reviews.
Works with engineers to supply specifications to improve products.
Follows industry and company safety guidelines.
Performs testing and calibration of common electronic equipment’s (PS, Oscilloscope, DMM etc).
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Provide user training.
Safety and Operations:

Notify team lead of potential safety issues.
Adhere to all safety regulations
Notify team lead of any issues that could compromise part quality and/or shop safety.
Understand proper operational safety procedures of all Electronics Workshop equipment.
Teamwork:

Skilled to participate in both team and cross-campus multidisciplinary projects.
Ability to communicate clearly with team members and users.
Seek for technical and professional rapport with the user community of the central workshops.
Provide expertise and make significant contribution to the Central Workshop.

Competencies Technical Skills:

Write code, test, and debug software programs (including web interface, database solutions, embedded systems, JavaScript, HTML, C/C++, and API’s)
Understanding of mobile applications (iOS, Android, and others) and software for embedded systems applications.
Working knowledge of IoT Strategy, standards, protocols.
Rapid prototyping using common development kits (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.)
Understand hardware components (microcontrollers, communication protocols, web interface)
Excellent working knowledge of interfaces, hardware subsystems, and IP protocols.
Work with engineers to identify and select components
Code development for various architectures including microcontrollers, ARMs, microprocessors, and DSPs.
Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components.
Strong documentation and writing skills.
Ability to work with, test and calibrate various lab equipment’s such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and power supplies as an example.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Software Engineering or IT related discipline from accredited institute.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in embedded software design with working knowledge of various programming languages including C/C++, JavaScript, and Python.
Knowledge of testing and calibration of electronic equipment’s.
