Role Summary

SAR is looking for a driven Operations Control Center Supervisor to support the Operations Control Center Manager in day to day tasks to meet safety and performance objectives by supporting Operations Control Center team and continuous monitoring of network safety and performance, dispatching or trains, use and development of prioritisation and optimisation decision support tools, decision of prioritisation.

The Operations Control Center Supervisor is responsible to support the Operations Control Center Manager for all aspects of train service delivery, incident management and industry information provision by leading and developing the Operations Control Center to provide an outstanding service to all railway industry customers and stakeholders.

An ideal candidate will have strong communication skills as this job requires to communicate within internal stakeholders i.e. Passenger Business Unit, Mineral & Cargo Business Unit, Infrastructure Maintenance and Rolling Stock Maintenance. As well as external such as Public Transport Authority.

Key Accountabilities

Ensure the Operations Control Center acting as a role model and mentor, implementing SAR policies professionally and efficiently.

Support the role of Rail Incident Commander /EWAT Chair /Gold Command during incidents /adverse weather events with significant business operational impact.

Ensure the competency assessment processes are delivered.

Support the Operations Control Center Manager on the development and delivery of all aspects of the short term operational strategy from within the Operations Control Center.

Provide support to Operations Control Center Manager as required including chairing and attendance at meeting.

Manage Chief Train Controller including setting and monitoring Objectives and holding 121 meetings.

Carry out a formal Operations Control Center investigation as required and follow up with actions.

Adhere to Self-Assurance process. Produce Monthly / Three monthly audit report on Operational activities within Operations Control Center.

Identify performance problems (with equipment, material, and/or personnel, as appropriate) and implement solutions.

Produce Succession Planning programme for Operations Control Center Team.

Set up reward and recognition schemes.
