Job Description and Requirements At least 10 years of relevant work experience with a large corporation, law firm, or professional services company. Demonstrated understanding of traditional and alternative fee arrangements. Working knowledge of relevant systems and tools available for matter, document, and vendor management, including e-billing systems. Advanced Microsoft Office and other relevant software. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to influence and leverage relationships within and outside the Law Organization. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make informed recommendations. High level of professionalism, team player, and a strong client service orientation. Ability to easily handle shifting priorities and multitasking in a deadline-oriented environment. Duties & Responsibilities: Serve as the Law Organization’s liaison with outside counsel. Oversight of the Matter Management and e-billing system. Oversight of strategic projects and initiatives and relevant policies and procedures. Track and analyze relevant billing data, statistics, and trends. Negotiate with outside counsel to ensure competitive and fair billing. Resolve billing disputes and discrepancies. Optimize outside counsel spend. Develop and implementing cost-control initiatives. Evaluate rate increase requests, implementing alternative fee arrangements and performance scorecards, and coordinating annual outside counsel meetings and other programs. Evaluate requests for proposals with outside counsel. Identify trends influencing the Law Organization’s legal spend and matter workload. Establish and document relevant best practices. Assist in budget monitoring and forecasting. Be prepared to undertake a limited amount of travel. |
