Job Description and Requirements
As the successful candidate you will hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from a recognized and approved program.
You will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in refinery or petrochemical operations and engineering, including at least 10 years of experience in naphtha reforming technologies for the production of reformate, including naphtha hydrotreating and catalytic reforming (Semi-regen, cyclic or Continuous Catalyst Regeneration [CCR]). You will have at least 5 years of experience with CCR technologies and be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of operation of the CCR; and be able to explain and teach that understanding to others. Experience with more than one operating facility is strongly desirable, as is experience with more than one process licensor technology.
You will have a solid background in the comparison of alternative catalysts and technologies for production of naphtha reformate, including the advantages and disadvantages of semi-regenerative reforming, cyclic reforming, and CCR. You will be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of the impact of new reforming catalysts and technologies from all major licensors and their potential application to Saudi Aramco assets. Ideally, you will also have a background in the isomerization technologies, as well as with downstream uses of reformate such as gasoline blending and aromatics complexes. You will have a strong background in process simulation of naphtha reforming technologies for use in process studies, design reviews, and optimization.
You will possess strong mentorship skills with the ability and drive to guide the development of junior naphtha reforming process engineers as well as strong teaching abilities. You will possess strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to summarize and explain complex processes and technologies in terms suitable for economic evaluations and strategic management decision making.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Conduct process configuration/feasibility studies for naphtha reforming technologies.
Participate in the development and review of design basis scoping protocols for naphtha reforming projects.
Maintain and review list of approved process licensor technologies for naphtha reforming.
Review detailed designs for naphtha reforming technologies.
Participate as process subject matter expert in PHA and HazOp reviews.
Support design, commissioning, and startup of new naphtha reforming facilities.
Support post-commissioning troubleshooting and optimization of naphtha reforming facilities.
Organize Technical Exchange meetings, Community of Practice workshops, and other knowledge sharing activities for naphtha reforming.
Coordinate vendor training courses, and develop and teach new naphtha reforming courses.
Develop and update best practice documents for naphtha reforming technologies.
Participate in research and development activities for new naphtha reforming technologies, including stage gate reviews, catalyst testing, and development of new process technologies.
Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain steady-state simulation models for naphtha reforming process units.
