Electrocardiogram (ECG) Technician

الوصف الوظيفي
1. Scope: To operate in all in-patient and out-patient areas:

1.1 To attach electrodes to specified areas of patient’s body.

1.2 To accurately record electromotive variation in action of heart muscle using electrocardiograph machine. The tests are performed on patients of both sexes and all nationalities.

1.3 To observe ethical and cultural sensitivities in the way work is done.

1.4 Incumbent edits and mounts final results and forwards results for analysis and interpretation.

2. Needs to produce high quality ECG tracings and be able to detect and eliminate artifacts.

3. Clean the electrodes and machines and store them properly.

4. Maintains apparatus, making minor adjustment when faults occur.

5. Required to know and perform special techniques, i.e., special leads, portable machine (DEFIBRILATORS) protocol for Treadmill Testing and Pharmacological stress testing, perform ECG on children and special medical conditions.

6. Maintains stock of all consumables required for ECG tracing performance: paper, electrodes, etc.

7. Takes care of proper storage of all apparatus.

8. Keeps proper log book record of ECG’s.

9. Performs miscellaneous related duties as requested.

10. Maintains record of regular machine maintenance and service record and report equipment malfunction and failure.

11. Implements appropriate policies and procedures to achieve the Hospital’s goals and objectives in pursuit of Standards of Care, Quality/ Performance Improvement.

12. Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.

• Performs any other duties within the range of his / her professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Head of Cardiology.

To manage patients for whom he/she is responsible to the highest attainable standard of care within the resources of Dallah Hospital by performing ECG tracing both in outpatient clinic and in in-patients in the ward, including basic ECG resting tracings, Stress and Treadmill Tests, and during pharmacological stress testing.

Diploma in Electrocardiogram (ECG) with available professional registration certificate.
