Geotech Engineer

الوصف الوظيفي
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Carries out geological mapping in excavations and tunnels.
2. Interprets subsurface conditions and selects geotechnical design parameters.
3. Prepares design calculations including slope stability, bearing capacity and settlement analysis.
4. Performs work using specialized geotechnical computer software for slope stability.
5. Coordinates geotechnical engineering work with construction and field engineering groups.
6. Performs supervision of construction of specialized geotechnical works (earthworks, foundations, tunnelling, cavity probing) where required. Specifies construction control methods.
7. Ensures that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with.
8. Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of construction operations. 9. Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

المهارات
• Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering and specialized in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering and foundation design.
• Essential - knowledge of soil and rock classification systems.
• Essential – experience with slope stability geotechnical software.
• Beneficial – experience with Plaxis.
• Knowledge of calculation methods and specialized geotechnical software.
• Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to geotechnical engineering.
• Broad knowledge of constructability, construction methods and materials in areas of earthworks and foundations.
• Understanding of engineering planning, control methods and cost estimating.
• Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
• Skill in oral and written communication in English.• Driver’s license.
