Title: Warehouse Manager
Direct Reporting Relationship (Title): Logistics Director
Qualifications / Requirements
Knowledge and Experience: 6 to 8 years of experience in warehouse management, with at least 4 years of experience in a Managerial position
Education and Certifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or equivalent is required
Job Specific Skills: English Fluency (verbal and written)
Preferred industry: General trading / distribution
Type of products: Non-cold store products / non-perishable products
Key Accountabilities & Activities
Strategy and Planning
• Provide input to Logistics’ strategy, roadmap and plans working closely with the Department Head and Management Team
• Participate in the development of the Warehouses’ annual operation plans and ensure implementation is in line with Logistics, Operations, and company’s corporate strategy
• Participate in Logistics’ budgeting cycle, provide input to the budgeting process, and monitor achievement and progress made
• Support in investigating and recommending strategies that result in positive financial impact for company and mitigates financial and operational risks
• Develop strategies and plans for the allocation of warehouses of an appropriate size and capacity in proper locations within KSA in order to ensure company’s distribution effectiveness and customers satisfaction
• Lead the warehouse operations planning process to ensure all assets are fully utilized in order to achieve cost efficiency and to identify new warehouse locations when required
Warehouse Operational Management
• Ensure proper cooperation with other company’s Operations Sections: Procurement, Shipping and Transportation, and Quality so the warehouse activities remain coordinated
• Ensure integrity of stock by being compliant to packing requirements to store and ship materials in line with relevant polices and processes and being compliant with agreed quality standards
• Conduct frequent safety checks/observations and monthly meetings, in cooperation with direct reports, on safety issues and measures in order to maintain perfect safety records
• Evaluate the projected lifespan of the equipment to optimize purchasing decisions of new vehicles and provide technical information and expertise to the Logistics Director regarding equipment needs and issues
• Conduct systematic reviews of existing equipment to identify any maintenance issues
Inventory Operational Management
• Control distribution records, shortages or overages and addresses any problems with procurement and inventory control
• Conduct inventory demand forecasting based on historical sales transactions and ensure replenishment of fast moving items to avoid lost sales
• Continuously seeks ways to improve the layout of Receipts, Backloads and outside stock areas in order to maintain efficiency
• Coordinate with direct reports on maintaining a smooth operation in the workplace by optimizing the utilization of all available space and identifying areas of consolidation where possible
Relationship Management
• Negotiate and monitor rates, service agreements, and contracts with original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s), land lords, and third-party suppliers and subcontractors as required
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with product management teams and supply planners in order to ensure operational effectiveness
Reporting and Control
• Develop and monitor key performance metrics for the Warehouse Section
• Direct the development of periodical reports as required by Logistics Director and the management team
• Monitor and control the section’s spending and ensures it is in line with agreed and budgeted costs
Policies, Processes and Procedures
• Recommend improvements to and implement Logistics’ policies, procedures and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high quality and cost-effective results
• Stimulate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction, and productivity improvement
• Ensure compliance to all relevant policies, procedures and controls across the team’s activities in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, and responsible environmental behaviors
People Management
• Manage, guide and assist direct reports to perform their functional operations in accordance with set operational plans, policies and procedures
• Set performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate / appraise the team and provide regular feedback on performance
• Actively participate in on-the-job training, mentoring and coaching of direct reports
• Participate in the identification and recruitment of key talent for the Warehouse Function
