We are seeking a Laboratory Manager to be responsible for managing and providing direct oversight to the Company’s lab operations and lab staff, including core, toxicology, and molecular labs. This position is eligible for a $10k SIGN-ON Bonus.
Responsibilities:
Oversees the day-to-day operations of a clinical laboratory ensuring medical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; identifying peak and slack periods; making operational or staffing adjustment.
Plan, prepare, implement, and manage lab budget.
Manage, plan, and direct the Laboratory Quality Control in collaboration with the QA/QC Manager to ensure lab testing provide the highest quality analytical support while ensuring compliance with CAP/CLIA regulations.
Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from established policies and procedures.
Verifies the test procedures performed and establishes laboratory test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test.
Ensures all standard operating policies and procedures are up to date and developed and maintained in the standard MCL document control system.
Provide regular and consistent communications to the VP, Laboratory Operations, Laboratory Director, and other key leadership to ensure continuity of laboratory operations.
Execute and work with staff to approve and complete all laboratory investigations.
Review and investigate all laboratory data outside of trend.
Create, review, and approve protocols and reports such as method validation, method transfer, process validation, and stability in collaboration with technical supervisor, general supervisor, and department supervisors.
Provide leadership, management, evaluation, and training to employees.
Serves as the Laboratory Safety Officer.
Work cross-functionally with other departments to design and implement programs to improve quality and ensure regulatory compliance. Promote individual efforts, problem-solving support, and performance feedback.
Establish and maintain an effective CAPA program with quality control with QA/QC Manager.
Accurately assess ongoing performance and detect quality assurance and regulatory questions,
Maintain updated knowledge of relevant regulatory issues.
Work effectively with marketing/sales department and clinical teams.
Maintain and monitor laboratory inventory for the Huntsville lab.
Collaborate with others as needed.
Other duties as directed by supervisor.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; Medical or Clinical Laboratory Science, or related; and three to five years related experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Master’s degree (M. A.) or equivalent; Medical or Clinical Laboratory Science, or related; or training; and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
Three to five years of supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory setting, required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
MT ASCP Certification, preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated leadership competencies,
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (i.e., Outlook, Teams, Excel)
Excellent oral and written communication skills,
Excellent time management and conflict resolution skills,
Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory information systems preferred,
Attention to detail.
Other Qualifications
Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operating equipment and supplies per safety and laboratory guidelines.
Technical knowledge of scientific disciplines, knowledge of and skills in laboratory methods; handling patient samples including their safe use and disposal.
Work Conditions:
This position will typically work in a standard office setting under normal office conditions, to include prolonged hours of working on a computer at a workstation. This position could result in standing, walking, sitting, and using hands/fingers/arms up to 33% of the work performed.
This position could be exposed to moving mechanical equipment within the laboratory setting and would need to be able to lift, up to 25lbs. Special vision requirements such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus could be required.
