Job Description and Requirements
Wood is recruiting for a Principal Instrumentation Engineer to join in ongoing projects in Saudi Arabia. The position will be based in our office in Al - Khobar and has an expected duration of 12 months, although there is the possibility of follow - on work in the future.
This role will work in a multidiscipline team environment where the overall success of the project is paramount. Being a team player and having the interpersonal skills to interact effectively with other team members and other disciplines is essential.
Demonstrate discipline leadership in terms of best practice, unconventional yet safe, proper and fit for purpose engineering and thinking outside the conventional box to achieve cost effective approaches
Achieve targets and initiatives assigned to the instrumentation function
Contribute to all safety design processes including HAZAN, HAZOP, SIL classification, safety lifecycle
Organize, monitor, report on assigned work scope
Participate in the technical assessment and ratification of bids from prospective contractors and vendors
Interact with client, company management and other disciplines to develop the control, safety and monitoring systems and instrumentation philosophies per the above criteria
Develop FEED packages suitable for client review, Contractor bidding and selection
Review all relevant other discipline documentation and participate in the development of the P&IDs;Issue material requisitions to the Procurement Department for enquiry, order placement and for any subsequent revisions
Prepare the Master Requisition Index and update and issue it on a regular basis
Review Vendors’ quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department commercial quotation evaluation
Approve Order Variation Summaries
Hold co - ordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as required. Carry out technical investigations, produce technical reports, engineering standards and procedures
Assist in the development and training of Client’s personnel when requested
Review the project execution developed by the Cost and Planning Department
Degree in Instrument and Control Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of 15 years’ instrumentation experience with 10+ years’ gas plant experience
Held a senior level role / position for a minimum of 5 years
Smart Plant Instrumentation and or MS Access
Prior experience in developing FEED’s and Engineering Flow Diagrams (P&IDs;)
Extensive high - pressure gas and condensate processing experience
Good knowledge of upstream, preferably with an appreciation of the development of unconventional gas
Knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards is an advantage
Saudi National id holder would be preferred by default
