An exciting opportunity is available for Scientist, R&D;laboratories based in Jubail. Reports to Manager, R&D;Laboratories &Tech;Services
Job purpose:

Tasnee is seeking a highly self-motivated individual for research and development activities for its superabsorbent business. This is a scientist position in the R&D;that will interface with manufacturing and business departments. Candidates should have expertise in superabsorbent materials and products. These should include a solid understanding of material development, including an understanding of material properties. The successful candidate will be guiding development from lab-scale experimentation to pilot-scale development; commercial scale-up. This role will be focusing on product development as well as supporting existing product portfolio. Excellent collaborative skills across functional areas is a must

Role responsibilities:

Lead and contribute to new product development which may span the range from conception through pilot-scale and initial stages of commercialization with Business/Manufacturing.
• Contribute to product improvements, qualifications, quality issues, technical support, applications technology projects.
Conduct fundamental research to develop basic understanding of superabsorber chemistry, new platform technologies, and new test methods.
Develops and review study proposals, manages and/or coordinates workflow on projects
Provides input and makes recommendations to research strategies and projects.
Executes research study in accordance with the project R&D;strategy and timelines including financial management of the project.
Collaborates with the cross functional teams within the entire organization.
Provides periodic status reports regarding projects timelines, projects achievements, budget issues, etc. to the management as requested.
Supports Petchem T&I;initiatives and Petchem process improvements.
Supervises technical staff, including work assignments and performance and development management.
Defines work-plans and approaches and assumes responsibility for timeliness, cost effectiveness, and quality of outputs. Continually aims to enhance capabilities for project planning, including assessment of cost, scope and schedule against plan. Prepare RFPs, scope of work reports, technical evaluation, and other documentation for IT projects
Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
Contributes to providing ideas to improve the efficiency of the unit in the area of relevant field.
Continually improves technical expertise and knowledge through experience and application.
Plays an active role in the preparation of reports, papers, presentations, new proposals. Presents papers at technical meetings. Starts becoming part of identifiable external peer network.
Assists in planning, evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard scientific techniques and procedures

Qualification and Requirements:

Post Graduate qualification in Chemistry or polymer Chemistry
PhD Degree in Chemistry or polymer Chemistry with min 2 or more years’ experience Or in SAP Polymers, polymerization processes and chemistry.
A highly motivated self-starter who can think independently yet work as a team player.
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with diverse groups of people at various levels.
Ability to meet deadlines and budgets while being flexible to changes in priorities.
Knowledge of patent filing.
Good project execution skills and laboratory discipline.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of equipment and procedures for making polymerization and handling powders will be considered.
Able to multi-task and coordinate various simultaneous projects.
Work independently to design, run and document experiments as well as be able to present findings to customers in presentation and written format.
Research and academic publications in relevant fields
