Job function:
 Monitors the maintenance quality of rotating equipment in the plant, to ensure the enhancement of performance, availability and service factor.
Key accountabilities:
Data Analyses:
 Maintains and analyses the equipment parameters readings of major maintenance activities, takes necessary actions in coordination with concerned department.
 Accuracy of analyses.
 Improved equipment efficiency.
Reliability Assurance:
 Follows up on maintenance of rotating equipment to ensure the quality and checks the data before and after the repairs. Performs checks on all rotating equipment after repairs or overhauls.
 Prepares and issues rotating equipment inspection reports
 Works with Maintenance to ensure precision practices in installation of rotating machinery and in particular alignment and balancing, precision installation of piping and infrastructure.
 Commissions the equipment after shutdowns in coordination with Production, using applicable technologies e.g., vibration anlaysis, motor current data, oil analysis etc against applicable acceptance criteria.
 Works with Purchasing to improve the specifications for reliability improvement.
 Works with Warehouse to assure precision and quality storage for equipment and spares.
 Provides day-to-day support to Operations & Maintenance.
 Participates in root cause failure analyses.
 Develops job scopes and provides effective QA support for Turnaround activities.
 Improved equipment efficiency.

Overhauls & Shutdowns:
 Reviews data recorded during shutdown inspections, compares with specification data, and initiates necessary actions in coordination with concerned department.
 Follows up on quality control of rotating equipment repaired at outside shops.
 Improved equipment efficiency / availability / reliability.
 Direction to Subordinates:
 Organize and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of Maintenance activity is carried out in an efficient manner consistent with operating procedures and policies.
 Audit of compliance versus procedure and policy.
 Cost efficiency of the area.
Cost Reduction:
 Focus on uptime / output losses and the causes of those losses via Pareto analysis. Do root cause failure analysis, develop a plan for eliminating those losses, assure plans approval and then facilitate implementation.
 Cost savings.
 Enhanced profitability

 Recommends improvements to departmental procedures and directs the implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific area of Maintenance activity so that all relevant procedural/ statutory requirements are fulfilled while providing a quality and cost-effective service to the customers.
 Compliance with procedural and legislative requirements.
 Effective communication of procedures and instructions.
Safety, Quality & Environment:
 Ensures compliance with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and standards within defined area of Maintenance activity to guarantee employee safety, statutory compliance, delivery of high quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.
 Frequency of ISO 9001 non-conformities.
 Frequency of ISO 14001 non-conformities.
 Frequency of LTI’s, safety incidents and near misses.
Job context:
 The incumbent reports to Reliability Engineering Section Manager. The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to manage and ensure the quality of rotating equipment in the plant, and as part of his job contribute widely to the decision making process regarding outages and resource utilization.
 The job does not require constant fieldwork, though some field visits may be required from time to time.

 Maintains good communication with other departments and equipment manufacturers.
 Has good interpersonal skills.
External:
 Member of external technical resources and institutes
 Certified in ASME, or API, or OSHA, Vibration Analyst as applicable.
 Attended various seminars and technical meetings.
Frameworks, boundaries & decision making:
 This role operates under the direction of Reliability Engineering Section Manager
 The incumbent is free to make day-to-day plans and decisions concerning supervision of ongoing operational issues within a framework of set operational policies and procedures.
 Major and/or exceptional issues must be referred to his superior for direction / approval.
 Responsible for analysing equipment data and take necessary action to predict and prevent failures.
 Actively contributes to Eureka and CAMEL programs.
Qualifications, experience, & skills:
 Education: BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
 Experience: 7+ years in an operating plant.
Job-Specific Skills:
 Certified or planned to be certified as a Vibration Engineer- I & II.
 General understanding of rotating equipment repair and troubleshooting.
 General understanding of Reliability methods and applications.
Generic Skills:
 Worked in Maintenance for 3 years.
 Experience and knowledge in project planning, cost control, contract development, installation, troubleshooting, and start-up.
 Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
 Organizational and leadership skills to motivate, set goals, and follow-up.
 Effective verbal & written communication along with organizational and time management skills.
 Capable of being team leader and team member, with good interpersonal skills and demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to a fast paced environment.
 Computer literacy.
Minimum Experience:
 Minimum 2 years experience of rotating equipment data analysis.
 Experience of maintenance planning using SAP or other computerised business management tools.
