Mechanical Design Engineer

الوصف الوظيفي
The Mechanical Design Engineer provides professional expert design and engineering of bespoke items, as well as mentoring students and researchers in design and engineering principles and techniques. He/She will also support a wide variety of technical and community projects. The Mechanical Design Engineer will continually work as an effective team player to ensure the Workshops Core Lab (CL) delivers the best possible customer experience and professional services.

Responsibilities:

· Complete design and modelling of mechanical parts and assemblies

· Provide detailed designs in 2D and 3D using CAD software

· Generate shop floor drawings for the shop personnel, applying tolerances as appropriate

· Utilize FEA & CFD in designs for optimization

· Assist with teaching/training of CAD software use and techniques to students and academic staff

· Contribute to brainstorming and conceptual design with users

· Communicate with the shop personnel or others, relating to designs and drawings

· Work safely at all times, complying with all safety rules

· Implement safety features into designs to promote safety

· Report all safety issues that could compromise general safety

· Participate in both team and cross-campus multidisciplinary projects

· Build a technical rapport with the users of the Workshops CL

· Provide expertise in supporting the development plan of the Workshops CL

· Work with supervisor to continuously improve operations

· Mentor and Coach junior staff members

· Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, and skills in drafting and modelling of mechanical parts and assemblies.

المهارات
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
At least three (3) years of experience in mechanical engineering and design or similar role.
