Job Summary:

Responsible to plan, organize, coordinate and oversee the overall operations of the unit that include (pre-analytic & post-analytic phases)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for Overall operation of Cytogenetic unit
Responsible for ensuring that the prompt unit-specific training is given to the new staff & monitoring of the current unit staff for their competency assessment & their appraisal.
Establish & revise the unit-specific technical policies & procedures for the current & the newly introduced tests.
Review the Method validation for the new Methodology/equipment for the approval of the lab director
Establish and supervise a quality control program appropriate for the tests performed and establish the acceptable levels and the analytical goals of analytic performance and ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of the specimen, through sample analysis and reporting of test results.
Reviews all new and revised CAP proficiency tests.
Provide the corrective actions after prompt investigation for any unaccepted CAP cycles.
Ensuring the quality of the received specimens is maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of the specimen, through sample analysis and reporting of test results.
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all test data on the laboratory LDM system (eg: Reference range, sample type ……etc)
Participate in the corrective action for the quality indicators related to the unit if it’s out of the target of compliance
Responsible for the reports format review for all unit tests to be approved by lab director
Provide consultation to the laboratory’s clients on matters related to the quality of the test results and their clinical interpretations.
Participates in the production planning process prepares budgets and recommends expenditures for technology and equipment.
Evaluate the consumption rate and evaluate the vendors and suppliers directly indulged in the technical aspect of work.
Reviews and approves unit data and investigations in accordance with good documentation practices.
Involve in selecting the referring laboratory for the unit related tests
Promotes a safe laboratory environment.
Attending the regular laboratory meetings
Enhance the different unit opportunities for improvements.
Perform duties as assigned by the lab manager & lab director

Education required:

Ph.D. in Clinical Pathology
Knowledge and Abilities:

Demonstrated strategic thinking, critical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including providing vision, establishing direction and goals, and guiding execution while fostering a team-based environment.
Demonstrated mentoring and coaching, influencing, negotiating and personal interaction skills.
Demonstrated resource management and planning skills. Must be flexible and adaptable, and able to work under pressure, while meeting designated timelines.
Proficiency with PC-based office computers, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel
Plan, organize, coordinate and supervise varied complex projects.
Work cooperatively and effectively with others.

Certification / Licensures:

Certification as a Laboratory Consultant by the Saudi Council for health specialty.

Professional Work Experience:

Five years of experience after degree including two years under the direction of a qualified doctorate level director in a hospital, university, health department, with two years supervisory experience involving supervision of professional laboratory personnel, or two years in JCI or CAP-accredited laboratory.
