QA Analyst

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality Assurance Analyst is primarily responsible for understanding simple to moderately complex testing requirements, test scripting, test execution, and reporting test results for the following types of tests: automated and manual, positive and negative, and regression, integration, system, and smoke testing. The analyst is also involved in change management, peer review meetings, documentation, and audit compliance activities.

Analysis• In order to gain an understanding of the testing requirements, analyze simple to moderately complex requirements documents, design specifications, functional specifications, and changed or modified code with applicable Client departments (e.g. product management, development, etc.) as well as other key stakeholders (sponsor, end customer, etc.).

Planning Scripting
• Attend peer review meetings with Development and Product teams to review current changes based upon project scope.
• Participate in the preparation of comprehensive test plans and scripts for new and changed functionality as per department policies and procedures for the following: automated and manual; positive and negative; regression, integration, system, and smoke testing.
• Ensure all documentation and scripts are maintained and kept up to date with application changes within Quality Center.• Perform and/or review the checks necessary to ensure that all code changes have been made known to QA, and that all changes have the necessary approvals.

Testing
• Perform the following testing for new and changed functionality to ensure that requirements have been met, that system behavior is as expected and determine that the system is suitable for release: automated and manual; positive and negative; regression, integration, system, and smoke testing.
• Identify points of failure by tracing them to the original source code, where applicable.• Liaise with the development teams on testing discrepancies identified.

Reporting
• Document, communicate and track all testing results utilizing Quality Center.• Record testing defects within Quality Center including the necessary information to identify or recreate them.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or any related field from an accredited institution.

• +3 years of relevant testing experience required.
• Experience in working in a software development environment; working custom Web applications, mobile apps and supported websites.
• Waterfall and Agile/Scrum experience.
• CSQA, CBAP
• Requires specific knowledge of QA testing, change management and test case generation techniques.
• Strong planning and project organization skills, negotiation, decision making, problem solving, influencing skills.
• Strong judgment and leadership skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in high pressure, high volume environment.
• Effectively use Microsoft Office applications and PC proficiency in Windows-based programs.
• Ability to define process and strategy for performance testing is highly preferred.
• Experience as a performance tester, predominately performance testing data intensive web applications (including web services) is a plus.
• Experience with Java, Database and PL/SQL.
• Strong knowledge of quality assurance and business analysis, best practices and methodologies.
• Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who takes the initiative and proactively offers suggestions and resolutions.
• Proven experience creating end-to-end test plans; executes the plan and manages all activities in the plan to ensure that all the objectives are met and that the solution works as expected.
• Experience with user interface (UI) design.
• Clear communicator (written and verbal) – to ensure ability to write test plans and test cases. To communicate bugs to developers and other stakeholders.
• Creative solving of technical problems – to ensure the ability translate technical requirements test plans
• Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables – ensures the ability to find the bad defects and bugs quickly• Ability to think abstract – to ensure ability to not conform to the norm. Norms do not find bugs quickly.
