Duties and Responsibilities
The Software technician Responsible for:
Receives work order calls and logs the user troubles in a database work order system and after initial approval from ICT Manager, reach at the location and diagnose malfunctioning software; analyze cause and plan repair procedures;
Assist users in the following areas of work, but not limited to;
Troubleshooting, Installing (only hospital approved software), Rectifying Software and Applications on the Hospital Computers;
Operating Systems (i.e. Windows 95/98/2000/XP)
Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access)
Utility Programs (i.e. Norton Antivirus, Backup Programs, File Compression (WinZip))
Device Drivers (Display-Printer-Mouse).
Troubleshooting and repair the Computer Hardware devices and components such as;
Hard disk Drive, CD ROM/CD Writer, Floppy Drive
Mouse, Keyboard and Monitor, Printer and Scanner
Problem diagnose of Memory, VGA Cards and Mother Board.
Reinstalling damage or faulty programs (most common problems)
Check registry for unwanted software installation (To avoid virus infection)
Regular check-up for virus infection.
Maintain Periodical Back up of user documents.
Recover Lost data and files.
Attend to any software/hardware-related problems.
Train the end users to perform routine software trouble shooting procedures;
Removing temporary files (Operating System and Internet), Backup documents, Virus Scanning and Removing, Shutdown the PC properly, Remove unnecessary Terminate and Stay Residents programs (TSRs)
Install, Test and Set up PCs; including partitions and formats hard drives.
Implement a variety of user services as directed by ICT Manager/System and Network Administrator (i.e. repairs, moves, limited basic hardware equipments, etc.)
Establish proper technical documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
Maintain appropriate records on software malfunctions, repair, installation and removal of software and hardware malfunctions for future troubleshooting easy.
Uncover critical unit failure points generated from user usage, and inform the Network and Development teams.
Performs routine/periodical preventive maintenance on all software and hardware systems as outlined in ICT policy and procedures.
Keep abreast of changing technology and maintain liaison with other ICT staff as appropriate to ensure utilization of current principles and techniques.
Support specialized project development activities associated with the computer software applications and hardware environment.
Performs other duties within the realm of his/her qualifications and experience.
المهارات
Experience in installing Operating system (Windows 95/98/2000/XP) and Office Applications, Internet and Email software (i.e. Internet explorer, Outlook express and MS Outlook), Computer hardware maintenance and trouble shooting.
Knowledge in Programming; Oracle, MS SQL, Visual Basic, Developer Forms and Reports. Basic LAN/WAN operations
Education
Diploma in Computer Software and Hardware or any equivalent combination of education
