Duties and Responsibilities
Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the Hospital Education Program.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.
Assists the Director of Nursing in all nursing service administrative duties and acts up in his/her absence, as per the job description and task hand over, during assigned periods.
Responsible for supervising and supporting the Head Nurses in the management of assigned patient care units.
Acts as a professional role model and resource person, liaising with Head Nurses, Supervisors and others.
Collaborates with the other ADON’s/DDON to ensure standardized quality in patient care delivery.
Assists in organizing, developing and maintaining nursing services.
Establishes and maintains effective communication with all departments informing the DON of any circumstances which may affect the services.
Performs appropriate committee functions as assigned by the Director of Nursing and act as Nursing Representative.
Actively participates in the education requirement for the department and the hospital as per the Hospital Education Program.
Performs additional nursing service tasks, as requested through the Director of Nursing, and as appropriate to their level of knowledge, skills and abilities.
Participates in nursing administrative coverage for the hospital, inclusive of ”on-call” arrangements for Nursing Administration, as per the hospital guidelines and assigned through the Director of Nursing.
Participates as a member of the Credentialing Committee and follows the guidelines.
Monitors appropriate approval and management, effective usage and trends, deviations in overtime, sick leave, annual vacation planning and floating of nursing staff.
Completes daily rounds (as required depending on the nursing care unit) and observes practice, safety risks, patient complaints and general activity.
Reviews the results of all monitoring of the assigned nursing care units and assists and recommends interventional plans regarding areas of concern.
Investigates and reviews all reported events relating to nursing services and other disciplines when requested.
Ensures nursing personnel work within their scope of professional responsibility as defined by their job descriptions.
Attends daily hand over meeting within the nursing department.
Coordinate care between clinics and departments and ensure patient care and treatment and patient information is standardized, evidence based and available when needed.
Assists the Director of Nursing Services in the design, implementation and evaluation of nursing systems that ensure consistent delivery of care.
Provides reports/recommendations as needed/required for the Director of Nursing Services concerning the operations of Nursing Services.
Assists the Director of Nursing Services in the development, implementation and evaluation of facility policies, procedures and guidelines.
In the absence of the Director of Nursing Services, conducts staff meetings.
Assists the Director of Nursing Services in ensuring nursing staff awareness and compliance with KFMMC and nursing department policies, standards of practice.
Conducts regular rounds as delegated by DON to all hospital units to ensure quality client care and to assess the staff needs.
Ensures nursing staff work within their scope of professional Responsibility as defined by their job descriptions.

Fluency and comprehension in written and spoken English.
Ability to complete multiple projects.
Possess basic computer skills, including e-mail use.
Capable of maintaining regular attendance.
Must be able to relate positively to staff, patients, visitors, colleagues and government regulators, and to work cooperatively with other associates of all levels.
Administrative skill to effectively manage and direct staff and services.
Leadership, communication, conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
Ability to analyze and interpret general reports, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Ability to compile/write reports, correspondences, nursing progress reports and policies and guidelines.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from departmental heads, customers and the community.
