Duties and Responsibilities

6.1. Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.

6.2. Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.

6.3. Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the I lospital Education Program.

6.4. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.

G.S. Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.

G.G. He will be I st in charge for patients in Resuscitation Area. Acute Area and Observation Area. He will supervise and may assist in work in Fast Track.

6.7. Carries out full range clinical duties as assigned by the Consultant in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.

6.8. Clinical assessment of all patients present to him, take all necessary resuscitative measures to stabilize their condition ordering necessary investigation and either discharge or refer patient to necessary services.

6.9. Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division.

6.10. Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Management Program, Quality Assessment Improvement Program) as applicable.

6.11. Instructs and guides when necessary junior medical staff in the overall care of patients, supervises their performance/work and contributes to the training and teaching activities in the department/division.

6.12. Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education.

6.13. Attends the Continuing Medical Education Program of the department/division

6.14. Works towards completing his post graduate training.

6.15. Participates in approved research projects.

6.16. Shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.

6.17. To acquire and maintain a valid certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS„AILS & PALS).

6.18. Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.

6.19. Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.

6.20. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital andior affiliated medical facilities.

6.21. Reviews and recommends employees for vacant positions in the Accident & Emergency Department to the Chairman of the Credential & AppointmentCommittee.

6.22. Abides by the medical staff bylaws. Code of medical ethics, rules and regulations of the medical staff and those specific to the department/division.

6.23. Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible

6.24. Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the director of departmentlhead of division and Director of Postgraduate and Academic Affairs in planning a program of career development for trainees.

6.25. Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.

6.26. Deputies for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.

6.27. Participates in the forward planning, and further development of the departmentidi vision.

6.28. Serves on hospital committees as requested.
