Summary
Evaluate patient s skills in the area of speech language, voice, cognition and swallowing and treats accordingly. Carries out research related to speech language pathology.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1.Provides quality habilitative/rehabilitative care for patients receiving speech language pathology services including but not limited to evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment implementation and discharge planning.
2.Verbalizes knowledge of the location for manuals, i.e., departmental tests, equipment.
3.Demonstrates familiarization with internal and hospital policies and procedures.
4.Maintains patient s records as required by policies and administrative regulations.
5.Determines the need for referral to other specialists in other areas and carry out referral.
6.Provides education for patient and care giver as required.
7.Provides in-service to other departments and services.
8.Carries out research in area(s) of specialty.
9.Ability to evaluate the need for developing hand-outs, tests, and treatment materials in a manner that takes into account current trends of practices, multi-cultural needs of Saudi patients and related.
10.Responsible for the management of specialized teams under the supervision of the Head, Speech Language Pathology.
11.Supervises the speech language evaluation and treatment services provided by intern-students and SCDP(s) engaged in completion of clinical practicum requirements.
12.Confers with intern-students and SCDP(s) to provide feedback to support clinical work and to develop clinical skills.
13.Reuires to spend 60% of working hours in direct patient care and 40% of working hours to complete administrative responsibilities including: development of clinical and educational materials in Arabic, supervision of SCDP, interns, junior staff, as well as initiate clinical research activities, conduct activities related to quality of services. The administrative time will also be utilized clinically when there is staff shortage as assigned by the Head, Speech Language Pathology Section.
14.Participates in self and others education, training and development activities as applicable.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
16. Follows all hospital related policies and procedures.
Education
Ph.D. or Master s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or equivalent as determined by the appropriate certifying authorities. This includes the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), Canadian (CASALPA), and British (BSA) certificates is required.
Experience Required
Four (4) years of experience in Speech-Language Pathology in a specialized area with PhD, or six (6) years of similar requirements with Master s Degree is required.
Other Requirements(Certificates)
-Certified by Saudi Council for Health Specialties.
-Eligibility for international certifications, i.e. ASHA (USA), BSA (UK), CASALPA (Canada), and/or IALP, preferred.(no problem) accept changes
