Leads and coordinates activities of the LaboratoryTechnicians and Laboratory Assistants. Performs a variety of laboratory testing and related tasks. Operates automated testing equipment. Performs routing procedural steps of laboratory tests.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Monitors and resolves problems related to specimen processes and activities of the Laboratory Technicians and Laboratory Assistants.
2. Views activities orders in ICIS and prints both collection and aliquot labels.
3. Receives sorts and accessions lab specimens in ICIS and processes them by manual and automated methods and contacts phlebotomist, nurses, and doctors as required tosolve specimen related problems.
4. Performs separate procedural steps of less complex laboratory testing procedures to obtain results for diagnosis of patient diseases.
5. Operates automated testing and diagnostic equipment in accordance with accepted and established procedures.
6. Prepares specimens for observation and analysis by other laboratory staff members.
7. Identifies and labels all specimens to be retained and files them for later reference.
8. Assistsin training new laboratory technicians and trainees.
9. Inventories and requests of biweekly supplies (warehouse and pre-analytical machines supplies) and arranges monthly staff schedule with the senior and supervisor.
10. Works in accordance with standards established by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
11. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures
12. Participates in self and others education, training, and development, as applicable.
Education
Bachelor s or Associate Degree/Diploma in Medical or Laboratory Technology, or in related majors such as Biochemistry, Biology, or Microbiology is required.
Experience Required
Grade 07:
One (1) year of related experience with Bachelor s or two (2)years with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
Grade 08:
Four (4) years as Medical Laboratory Technician at KFSH&RC;. Average of annual performance appraisal at least(3.5) for the last four (4) years. Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].
Other Requirements(Certificates)
Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required. Bilingual skills [English and Arabic] in verbal and written communications are required. Completion of approved accreditation according to country of origin is required for non-Saudi.
