Assesses patient nutritional needs, establishes nutritional care plans to meet those needs, implements appropriate the rapeutic diet or nutrition support regimen, and provides diet instruction. Maintains professional competency and skills required for professional practice.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1.Uses standards of practice, evaluates nutrition status of patients and prescribes, implements, evaluates (initial and ongoing), and documents an appropriate nutritional care plan on a timely manner.
2. Calculates patients nutritional needs to determine the optimal nutritional supplement for both oral and tube feeding.
3. Contributes to an inter-disciplinary approach to patient care. Attends ward rounds and team conferences to exchange information related to patient care and discharge planning.
4. Educates patients and family members on appropriate diet modification and provides educational materials accordingly.
5. Participates in quality improvement activities, projects, and clinical research to enhance nutrition care that is safe and effective.
6. Provides nutrition education to dietetic interns.
7. Conducts in-services on nutrition updates or case studies for Nutrition Services (NS) department and other Hospital staff.
8. Conducts nutrition education for the community and participates in Hospital Quality Day and awareness days as assigned.
9. Participates in continuous learning to update knowledge of current developments in clinical nutrition. Completes the continuing education requirements, as per Saudi Commission for Health Specialties requirements.
10. Highlights Food-Drug interaction and document to Clinical staff & in the Medical chart.
11. Develops and/or continuously updates educational materials.
12. Updates nutritional resources and leads activities such as nutrition in-services and community nutrition awareness days as assigned.
13. Participates in self and others education, training, and development, as applicable
14. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor s Degree in Clinical Nutrition from a recognized university, and successful completion of one (1) year of Dietetic internship from the accredited institute is required.
Experience Required
*Grade 08:
Two (2) years of related experience as a Hospital Clinical Dietitian is required.
* Grade 09:
- Four (4) years as Clinical Dietitian II at KFSH&RC;- Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4)
- Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].
Other Requirements(Certificates)
-Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
- The following are required for staff assigned at Organ Transplant: Experience, training during internship, or orientation in a transplant setting.
