Acts in a lead capacity for the Quality Assurance functions of the Section in accordance with KFSH&RC;, National and International Standards.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Establishes a Quality Improvement Program, Quality Assurance Criteria and Quality Control in congruence with the KFSH&RC;, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and international standards. Modifies these as required by changing circumstance or as directed by accrediting agencies or legal authorities.
2. Ensures the highest quality and integrity of the subsection’s services: A) Performs process audits and monitors per established King Faisal Medical Laboratory standards and regulatory requirement, maintaining quality control of the subsection B) Assist the Section Supervisor in coordinating, monitoring and facilitating all Quality Assurance programs of the section. C) Acts as Safety Officer for the Section, maintaining appropriate laboratory safety procedures and practices.
3. Maintains state-of-the-art technology:A) Assists the Section Supervisor in ensuring that procedures are in place for evaluating new, and maintaining current methodologies/equipment to optimize precision, accuracy, productivity and cost effectiveness, and to ensure appropriate and current standards and regulations are being adhered to, including Good Manufacturing Practices for blood products. B) Assists the Section Supervisor in maintaining policy and procedure manuals in accordance with the specified guidelines.
4. Reviews immediate actions taken and written responses to incident reports. Ensures that incidents/accidents involving illness, hazardous substances, property damage and occupational injuries have been appropriately investigated. Evaluates incident reports and recommends corrective action to avoid recurrence.
5. Liaises with other KFSH&RC;Departments and the Medical Staff regarding the quality of laboratory service provided. Collaborates with the involved parties to investigate and improve areas of concern.
6. Participates on interdisciplinary Performance Improvement teams to improve the service provided to the clients of KFSH&RC;.
7. Performs technical duties as assigned twenty-five percent (25%) of the time.
8. Follows all KFSH&RC;related Policies and Procedures.
9. Participates in self and other s education, training and development, as applicable.
Education
Bachelor s Degree in a Medical Technology or related discipline required.
Experience Required
Six (6) years of Clinical Laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist, including six (6) months in the assigned discipline (Blood Bank Quality Assurance, including a working knowledge of the AABB standards for Blood Banks and Transfusion Services, current Good Manufacturing Practices and the FDA Cod of Federal Regulations); and one year in a supervisory capacity, or one year at KFSH&RC;Laboratory required.
Other Requirements(Certificates)
Registration as Medical Technologist of Clinical Laboratory Specialist with the American Society of the Clinical Pathologist or equivalent body in country of origin is required.
