Summary
ProvidesBasic Life Support emergency treatment and transportation to preserve the lifeand health of patients. Participates in the operation and maintenance of the section.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1.Responds to emergency calls to provide efficientand immediate care to the critically ill and injured patients. Transports thepatient to/from the Hospital and from/to the patient s residence in theassigned site.
2. Administers emergency medical treatmentboth on the scene and transits utilizing a variety of emergency and medicalequipment under the direction and guidance of the department s protocol and policies.Assists in the Emergency Medicine Department when a code has been declared.
3. Monitors and maintains ambulance andequipment to ensure proper working order and inventory of supplies. Reports anyneeds for replacement equipment or supplies to supervisor.
4. Provides patient care according to clinicalprotocols and safety requirements.
5. Maintains response readiness consistentwith Hospital Ambulance Services response criteria.
6. Assesses the extent of injury and gives allpossible emergency care and protection to the entrapped patient and uses theprescribed techniques and appliances for safely removing the patient where s/hemust be extricated from entrapment or helped out of his vehicle to enter EmergencyMedicine. After extrication, provides additional care in triaging the injuredin accordance with standard emergency procedures.
7. Functions as a trainer or preceptor asnecessary.
8. Participates in projects and assignments asapplicable.
9. Participates in self and other s education,training, and development, as applicable.
10. Follows all Hospital related policies andprocedures.
11. Performs other related dutiesas assigned.
Education
Bachelor sor Associate Degree/Diploma in Emergency Medical Services or other relateddiscipline is required.
Experience Required
*Grade 07:
One (1) year of related experience is requiredwith Bachelor s or two (2) years with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
* Grade 08:
- Four (4) years as Emergency MedicalTechnician at KFSH&RC;.
- Average of annual performance appraisal atleast (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
- Fifty (50) hours of cumulativecontinued medical education [CME].
Other Requirements(Certificates)
*Current Registration from country of originand Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
* Completion of approved accreditationaccording to country of origin such as [PHTLS and/or Emergency MedicalTechnician] is required for non-Saudi.
* Certification of Basic LifeSupport (BLS) is required.
