Measurement Technician

Profile of candidate:
Measurement technician experienced on measurement on potable or/and wastewater networks including installation and programming of insertion flowmeters (potable water) or Doppler flowmeters (wastewater).
Basic mandatory skills:
Be familiar with computer under Win 10 and Office pack (Excel) + Google Earth
Be familiar with a communication software between computer and loggers such as Winfluid, Primeworks, Softtools, …
Be habilitated to work in confined spaces (especially for sewerage) and hot tapping (for potable water networks).
Tasks:
a) Work preparation
- Downloading Google Earth (KMZ) files from email and install them in Google Earth
- Preparing all necessary tools, equipment, accessories such as screws and rubber tapes (sewerage) or saddles, tapping valves and fittings (for potable water)
- Verification of the safety equipment, including 4-gas detector functioning and loading, availability of gloves and PPE, traffic cones, beacons, ….
- Replace damage or missing element, including purchase in local stores (reimbursed upon presentation of invoices to Project Director – need authorization for element more expensive than 500 SAR)
- Verification of the batteries of the measurement equipment (charge if necessary)
- Print copies of survey/installation forms (reimbursed upon presentation of invoices)
- Take appointment with NWC and our client and be present on appointment site on time
b) Work execution in wastewater networks
- Go on site with NWC team (when present) and verify with Google Earth the reference of the point (id or other term used).
- Install all protection of the site: cones, beacons, flashing lights, …
- Wear specific PPE (harness, 4-gas detector and rope with its crane, …)
- Participate to manhole opening
- Evaluate the danger using the 4-gas detector and following strictly the procedure for works in confined spaces.
- Do the survey of the site and fill the survey form (when visiting the site for the first time) including a set of pictures (cell phone)
- Decide if the site is valid or not for measurement (danger or not, possibility to fix the sensor or not, accuracy of measurement OK or not …) make sign by our client Representative the filled survey form.
- Install the measurement equipment including its programing, verification of the values on real time …
- Install the telemetry (GPRS loggers)
- Remove all safety equipment
c) Work execution in potable water networks
- Go on site with NWC team (when present) and verify with Google Earth the reference of the point (id or other term used).
- Install all protection of the site: cones, beacons, flashing lights, …
- Wear PPE
- Participate to manhole opening
- Evaluate the danger using the 4-gas detector and following strictly the procedure for works in confined spaces.
- Do the survey of the site and fill the survey form (when visiting the site for the first time) including a set of pictures (cell phone) – don’t forget to note the pipe circumference.
- Decide if the site is valid or not for measurement (danger or not, possibility to fix the sensor or not, accuracy of measurement OK or not …) make sign by our client Representative the filled survey form.
- For the valid points, come again on site with appropriate saddles and tapping valves, fix them on pipe and do the hot tapping using a specific manual drilling machine (provided).
- Install the measurement equipment including its programing, verification of the values on real time …
- Don’t forget to fix the offset of the pressure sensor to zero (atmosphere)
- Install the telemetry (GPRS loggers)
- Take all necessary measurements on site (water level, water velocity estimate, …) for wastewater networks
- Take pictures of installed equipment
- Remove all safety equipment

d) Maintenance of measurement equipment
- Go on site with NWC team (when present)
- Install all protection of the site: cones, beacons, flashing lights, …
- Wear specific PPE (harness, 4-gas detector and rope with its crane, …) for wastewater networks works
- Participate to manhole opening
- Evaluate the danger using the 4-gas detector and following strictly the procedure for works in confined spaces.
- Remove all obstacles affecting the sensors - wastewater
- Fix hanging cables if screws damaged - wastewater
- Download data to date and verify the remaining battery autonomy -Replace battery if necessary – wastewater
- Verify the installation parameters and fix again the flowmeter if it has moved - potable water
- Verify the good functioning of the measurement equipment before leaving (especially if the equipment records or not appropriate real time values)
- Fill the installation form and send it to the Project Director
 
e) Uninstalling the measurement equipment
- Go on site with NWC team (when present)
- Install all protection of the site: cones, beacons, flashing lights, …
- Wear specific PPE (harness, 4-gas detector and rope with its crane, …)
- Participate to manhole opening
- Evaluate the danger using the 4-gas detector and following strictly the procedure for works in confined spaces.
- Download the data to date and stop the loggers and flowmeters.
- Uninstall the measurement equipment
- Remove all safety equipment
- Clean the measurement equipment at the warehouse
- Refill the batteries of the Doppler flowmeters at the warehouse

f) Reporting – Send all documents by email to the Project Director (softcopy)
o Survey:
- Signed survey form with the set of appropriate pictures for each point
- Complete and send the table of points (valid/invalid, date of survey, comments, date of installation, …) every day
- Record all documents on laptop classed by date and by Points’ Id.
o Installation of the measurement equipment
- Fill and send the installation form
- Complete and send the information related to the installation on the survey form (date of installation, serial number of the measurement equipment, …)
o Maintenance of the measurement equipment
- Fill and send the installation form
- Fill and send the survey form with the information related to the maintenance
o Uninstallation of the measurement equipment
- Class all recorded data by date and by Points’ Id.
- Send the downloaded data and the installation form
