responsibilities will include:
Collaborate with the RC H.E. the CEO on five and ten-year plans for corporate growth and evolution
Contribute to financial planning and projections, and analyses of existing programs and policies
Develop and enforce policies and procedures for Port operations and maintenance, including health and safety, quality, environment and risk.
Work with RC Senior Management to ensure all RC practices, standards, and budgetary targets are met
Develop and integrate staffing programs designed to attract the highest caliber of talent while satisfying the needs of clients
Manage and train service employees in the latest leadership and technical skills, so they can better serve clients
Plan budgeting and resource allocation.
Ensure all program initiatives align with the RC’s core values and culture
Provide strong leadership to employees, to achieve professionalism, good morale, initiative and commitment.
Supervise vessel planning activities prior to their arrival in port, ensure loading and unloading is performed in an efficient and timely manner
Manage and oversee port and vessel operations, and actively implement the agreed business plan to achieve growth and profitability
Ensure carrier expectations are met for a professional and safe environment, with on-time arrivals and departures
Ensure proper scheduling of Supervisors, Leads, and Agents to meet resource needs
Monitor employees’ actual hours versus budgeted production hours
Manage the port schedule, budgets and cost control procedures as planned
Track all port expenses to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets
Work with the customers and stakeholders to meet all program schedules
Manage all health and safety, quality, environment and risk management programs; perform incident investigations
Schedule routine company activities including management of port teams
4. Experience and Qualifications: List the background experience required for the position, number of years’ experience, in what fields. Describe the desirable academic background.
A recognized western university Bachelors’ Degree in Supply Chain Logistics, Maritime, Logistics or Transportation with a minimum of 15 years of Port and Terminal development and operational management experience, preferably within industrial cities
Must have a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to ten years working as a marine terminal manager, harbormaster, maintenance manager, planner, or related field.
Must have six or more years of management & leadership experience, managing a significant number of employees across different departments.
Familiar with applicable laws, codes and permit requirements that govern the marine industries.
Must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to act as an ambassador to the community.
Must be able to manage and lead a diverse work team toward the accomplishment of common goals in a highly collaborative, yet fast paced and stressful environment. This includes the ability to perform functions such as hiring, training, scheduling, evaluations, and discipline.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, tenants, visitors, customers, government representatives and vendors.
Must possess the ability to communicate clearly in English, and present information to both internal and external stakeholders, including the public. Must have good English reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Skilled in analyzing problems, developing different options and recommending an optimal solution.
Proficient use of computer programs including Microsoft products (Word, Excel, & Outlook).
