Principal Mechanical Engineer position in Engineering Department provides technical support to engineering department in the development and execution of various projects related to communities and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be a solid mechanical design professional that gained his experience mainly working in consulting engineering workplaces. And who has the capability to execute mechanical engineering solutions that are fully integrated within architectural, structural, electrical and site civil systems. Organizational Relationship The Principal Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Principal Supervising Engineer – Mechanical and will interact and coordinate with other JCPDI Royal Commission Departments. Major Activities Performed 1. Familiar with the JCPDI Royal Commission mechanical codes and standards, general design criteria and technical guidelines, standard drawings and standard guide specifications. 2. Review of A/E contractors design submittals, specifications, technical reports, calculations and coordinate work of other disciplines and departments. 3. Design of buildings mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection) systems. The design shall include construction drawings and specifications in addition to maintaining and updating the Royal Commission master specifications which are based on ARCOM MasterSpec® as licensed by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). 4. Preparation of technical specifications and drawings for bid packages related to the development of various community and industrial projects. 5. Will implement methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and will utilize facility economics in order to optimize the facilities life cycle cos and meet our client’s design objectives. 6. Leads other engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the quality improvement process. 7. Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses. 8. Assists in the review of vendor drawings and shop drawings. 9. Prepare conceptual design and layouts. 10. Performs field inspection and provide field support, as necessary during construction phases. 11. Provide response and technical solutions to RFI’s raised by contractors, operation and maintenance. 12. Must work well within a dynamic team and serve as a technical consultant to the client. 13. Execute mechanical engineering solutions that are fully integrated within architectural, structural, electrical and site civil systems.
المهارات
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited western university with major course work in mechanical engineering or a related field of study.
2. Minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in designing mechanical systems for buildings including fire protection, Plumbing and HVAC systems.
3. Experience in cooling load simulation in various building types using HAP and Sefaira, preferable.
4. Some experience in the Middle East preferable.
5. Solid experience and knowledge in applying the requirements of ICC, NFPA & HVAC Codes:
a. International Building Code (IBC)
b. International Fire Code (IFC)
c. International Plumbing Code (IPC)
d. International Mechanical Code (IMC)
e. International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC)
f. International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
6. Solid experience in applying The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE) handbooks and standards.
7. Solid experience in applying The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) handbooks and standards, preferably Certified Professional in HBDP or similar.
8. Solid experience and knowledge of all relevant The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) handbooks and standards.
9. Estimate the fire flow needed for building sprinkler systems, heating and air conditioning, calculations for various occupational enclosed spaces such as in office buildings, laboratories, power plants, water/wastewater plants, water/wastewater pumping systems etc. based on Master Plan and various building uses.
10. Conduct design of all HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems in various building projects through the bid phase of the project.
11. Develop the hydraulic modeling simulation and design calculations of all pressurized water systems were required by local specifications and codes.
12. Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders and government authorities plus developers, consultants and contractors working within the area under study or adjacent areas.
13. Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required. LEED Accreditation is a plus.
14. Must demonstrate continual progression of experience and expertise in the relevant discipline.
15. Ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is a plus.
16. Solid Knowledge of computers and basic software applications such as: AutoCAD, Trance Trace and Revit MEP.
17. District cooling experience is a plus.
