• Maintain knowledge of and conformance with the safety policies. Ensure the safety policies and procedures are followed at all times. Notify and/or rectify any unsafe practice.
• Ensure ALS IT security, privacy, and confidentiality policies and procedures are followed at all times.
• Ensure IT services are operating effectively for all ALS locations assigned, with primary responsibility for in the laboratory where the IT Technician is based – measured through incident rates, support calls, system availability, and uptime.
• Provide direct end-user support and trough helpdesk system for the IT sub-region – measured through incident rates, support calls, system availability, and uptime.
• Talking staff through a series of actions, either face to face or over email or telephone;
• Resolve all incidents/issues/requests into the help desk system as assigned. Prioritize and manage multiple incidents;
• Ensure helpdesk incidents are closed only after confirmation of resolution by the requesting party.
• Work continuously on a task until completion or escalate issues/work requests/jobs (where required).
• Keep personnel informed of the status of helpdesk jobs via the HelpDesk system during and after resolution.
• Identification and collation of IT asset information – measured through the accuracy of equipment register records.
• Proactively monitor the IT and Security Systems to maintain operational integrity. Perform regular hands-on maintenance tasks on the computer hardware, operating systems and software applications
• Contribute positively as a member of the IT team.
• Prepare and maintain the IT documentation as needed.
• Install, configure and monitor (where required) computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, balances, analytical instruments, barcode scanners, etc.
• Troubleshoot systems and network problems and solve hardware/software faults. Replace parts as required;
• Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;
• Support the roll-out of new applications. Test and evaluate
