Provide structural engineering services and support within a multi-discipline engineering and construction management environment for all Royal Commission projects, which include, but are not limited to, infrastructure, transportation, waterfront, industrial, institutional, commercial, residential, and educational.
Organizational Relationship
Member of Technical Supports Section’s Structural Engineering Unit of the Engineering Department. A professional staff position supporting all Royal Commission projects. Reports to the Supervising Structural Engineer. Interfaces with project engineering and management staffs, other Departments, architecture-engineering (AE) consultants, and construction contractors.
Major Activities Performed
A. Perform structural engineering to meet the Royal Commission’s development program.
B. Coordinate structural engineering activities with those of other disciplines and the project engineering and management teams.
C. Provide technical advice to other Engineering Department Sections and Units and to other Departments.
D. Prepare technical specifications.
E. Prepare design concepts.
F. Provide value engineering.
G. Provide technical assistance during construction contract bidding, proposal evaluations, negotiations, and post-award construction administration services.
H. Review the engineering and documents prepared by Royal Commission’s AE consultants, including, but not limited to, their designs, drawings, and specifications.
I. Review construction contractor field erection plans, shop fabrications drawings, and product (material) data sheets.
J. Perform field inspections and provide field support and trouble-shooting during the construction process.
K. Set out detailed terms for special (investigative) studies and geotechnical investigative works and reports.
L. Review and adapt geotechnical investigation works and reports vis-à-vis their correct interpretation and usage as the foundation design basis.
M. Set out detailed Quality Control and Assurance (QC/QA) terms and conditions.
N. Prepare quality and safety presentations.
المهارات
A. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited western engineering college or university. Master’s Degree in Civil (or Structural) Engineering from an accredited engineering college or university is desirable.
B. Fifteen (15) years minimum post-undergraduate or post-graduate professional experience.
C. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or as a Structural Engineer (SE) is required.
D. Thorough and complete ability to effectively communicate in English, both in speaking and writing.
E. Sound, overall experience in problem-solving and trouble shooting.
F. Fully conversant with IBC, ASCE, AASHTO, ACI, and AISC codes, standards, and associated specifications.
G. In-depth knowledge and experience of computer-aided structural engineering software STAAD. Pro, STAAD Foundation, RAM Structure, ETABS, SAP2000, and SAFE.
H. In-depth knowledge and experience of computer-aided drafting and modeling software AutoCAD and Revit Structure.
