• Develops safety procedures to be employed by workers operating equipment or working in close proximity to on-going chemical reactions. • Determines most effective arrangement of operations, such as mixing, crushing, heat transfer, distillation, and drying. • Directs activities of workers who operate or who are engaged in constructing and improving absorption, evaporation, or electromagnetic equipment. • Performs laboratory studies of steps in manufacture of new product and test proposed process in small scale operation (pilot plant). • Develops processes to separate components of liquids or gases or generate electrical currents, using controlled chemical processes.

• Ability in math and science, particularly chemistry • Good problem-solving and analytical skills • Planning and organizational ability • Excellent computer skills • The ability to manage projects, budgets and people • Good spoken and written communication skills • The ability to work as part of a team • A clear understanding of wider commercial pressures •Have experience in the chemical or petrochemical plant
