JOB FUNCTION
Performs geological work around the process of acquiring, analysing and interpreting geological data in order to provide accurate and customized services to clients. Provides geological advice in one or a small number of specialised technical disciplines and develops solutions to clients by putting acquired geological data into context.
Key Responsibilities
•
Interpret project needs based on regulatory structure and requirements, develop project parameters for environmental investigation and remediation project execution, set milestone schedules, and track progress
•
Plan and implement sampling programs with appropriate sampling tools and protocols to meet QA/QC requirements for multi-media environmental sampling, including surface and subsurface soil, overburden and bedrock groundwater, sediment, surface water, ambient air, indoor air, and soil vapors.
•
Conduct hydraulic conductivity testing on environmental test wells, assimilate data, and conduct basic groundwater modelling to predict groundwater flow paths and velocities.
•
Develop sampling and analysis plans and quality assurance project plans under the UFP and other regulatory structures;
•
Coordinate and implement complex field sampling programs, manage and oversee multiple field staff and subcontractors, as dictated by the project objectives and project plans;
•
Tabulate and assimilate field data collected into coherent products for project team review and presentation
•
Prepare environmental reports for regulatory review, including data interpretation, tabulation and mapping of analytical results, evaluating and establishing patterns and trends exhibited by such data and determining compliance with regulatory requirements
•
Ensure that Fugro policies and procedures are understood, implemented and adhered to by all employees.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience
•
Masters in Geology.
•
At least 2 years experience in soil investigation, logging, drilling methods, and detailed understanding of in-situ testing and familiar with laboratory testing.
•
Updated with geotechnical logging, laboratory and in-situ-testing standards. Ability to use and understand Standard Codes and Practices and Fugro learning material for learning and development.
•
Good English and Communication skills with more focus on verbal and listening.
Skills / experience required to do the job:
•
Through geological understanding of soil and rocks. Should understand the process of soil formation, Should be able to understand the regional geology and identify soil and rock types and log them in accordance with the standard Engineering Codes and practices.
•
Carry out field test, data processing and logging.
•
Access the geological setting of the site in relation to the ground investigation, Prepare site reconnaissance report, Prepare hand drawn sketches, maps, cross sections to describe surface and subsurface ground conditions.
•
Understand the overall purpose of logging and maintain homogeneity, accuracy between investigative points.
•
Supervise the quality of work by drillers and helpers in the field in order to stay aligned with project specifications
•
Attend site meetings with client if necessary; Liaise with client s representative in the field and maintain good relationship with them. Act as site coordinator or site manager as required and Permit to Work holder to open Permits
•
Transfer his/her knowledge to entry level field geologist.
•
Awareness of any specific health and safety measures needed on a project.
•
Client requirements and local legislation.
•
Maintain good relationship with peers and other department personnel (Operations, Laboratory, Commercial staff).
