Respiratory Specialist

الوصف الوظيفي
Administer oxygen, aerosol, and humidity therapy.
Monitor and maintain airway clearance for assigned patients utilizing adjunctive procedures such as mechanical suction, percussion and postural drainage.
Deliver aerosolized medications for inhalation per physician’s prescription.
Provide chest physical therapy, and hyperinflation therapy as order by physicians,
Obtain, analyze and assess arterial blood gas and acid-based data, and report results to the attending physician.
Facilitate emergency airway procedure. Perform orotracheal intubation as needed.
Apply appropriate mechanical ventilator modalities as initiated by physician order,
Evaluates and manages all assigned patients receiving mechanical life support ventilation.
Adjust mechanical ventilation according to clinical situation with consultation of attending physician.
Performs bedside pulmonary mechanic measures for ventilated patients.
Apply Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV); Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) Ventilation as per physicians’ order.
Evaluate mechanically ventilated patients for extubating readiness.
Formulate weaning plan in consultation with attending physicians.
Suggest and apply appropriate weaning methods and extubation.
Institute and monitor oscillating ventilation for pediatric and adult patients.
Monitor cardiopulmonary status of all assigned patients.
Perform capnography monitoring.
Perform tracheotomy tube changes.
Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilation or airway protection.
Assists physician during bronchoscopy procedure.
Prepares and maintains emergency kits for airway intubation.
Participate in clinical rounds with physicians, nurses and other health care providers.
Develop and suggest patient care plans during critical care rounds.
Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders.
Provides orientation for newly employed respiratory therapists and intern students.
Instruct patients and /or family members in the use of therapeutic techniques as prescribe by physician.

Good planning and organization skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Effective leadership with significant staff management responsibility.
Knowledge necessary to make appropriate clinical decisions and interaction relative to the specific age of a patient.
Maintain annual skill maintenance requirements.
Maintain annual safety/compliance requirements
Knowledge necessary to make appropriate clinical decisions and interaction relative to the specific age of a patient.
Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural environment.
Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely in both Arabic and English.
Experience in computer operations (Microsoft Word and Excel) and knowledge of laboratory information system and data processing.
