3+ years MS-SQL Server DBA experience including proficiency in SQL Server replication, Backup/Recovery, Disaster Recovery and planning
Experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques
Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Experience working with Windows Server including Active Directory
MCSA: SQL Server 2016, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics
Ability to work with managers, vendors, multiple developer teams and present ideas in user-friendly language
Familiar with data transformation services like SSIS, BCP, and Bulk Insert
Writing and improving SQL Server T-SQL queries for at least a year
Designing tables and picking datatypes
Using Profiler traces and other tools to find the most frequently run queries
Using free tools like sp_BlitzIndex and DMV queries to answer questions about index usage
Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Technical documentation skills
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Knowledge of cloud vendors to assist with choosing the most effective and cost-effective solution among IaaS, DBaaS, or a hybrid architecture
Cloud migration and management expertise
In-depth expertise in cloud capacity planning
Experience in controlling costs by identifying which database can be moved to the cloud, or to optimize databases in the cloud.
An understanding of when to outsource services that would help the business respond to cloud technologies

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
As new systems are brought in-house, choose whether to use clustering, log shipping, mirroring, Windows Azure, or other technologies
Install and configure new SQL Servers
Deploy database change scripts provided by third-party vendors
When performance issues arise, determine the most efficient way to increase performance, including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.
Managing all schema and SP changes in production and QA environments
Work with development teams on database design and best practices
Responsible for maintaining and supporting all Production/Test/QA/Development MS-SQL servers
Recommend monitoring tools to be used to monitor databases and provide management reports
Ensure the new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance
Provide weekly list of the top 10 most resource intensive queries on the server and suggest ways to improve performance on each
Design indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove indexes
Conduct SQL Server learning sessions for application developers
Advise developers on the most efficient database designs (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, functions, etc.)
Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objective (RPO)
Test backups to ensure we can meet the business Recovery Time Objective (RTO)
Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms
