Key Deliverables

Developing the architectural/structural drawings for the tenders/projects according the set standards and project requirements. GIS Technicians must have good attention to detail in order to maintain and enter data in a GIS database. They need to have superb written and oral communication skills for creating and presenting data reports and training others how to use GIS technology. They may also need ti work on GIS programming.

The GIS Technician should also have proficiency in IBM’s Maximo Asset Management Software, the EAMS will transform the way ASHGHAL collects and analyzes the road network data. EAMS will identify all engineering and geographical data related to roads and drainage networks in case of technical problems. It will also plan work requirements and determine resource availability according to priorities. The system will gather and analyze information about the country’s roads and drainage assets through a Geographic Information System (GIS) to allow quick intervention in order to make necessary repairs and preventative maintenance work.

Job Description

· Developing the GIS drawings as per the civil, structural and geographic requirements for the tender/project.

· Conducting amendments on the prepared drawings taking into consideration any changes/ modifications on the initial design (i.e micro-tunneling etc.)

· Coordinating with the structural/architectural …etc engineers to produce the drawings with the set specifications.

· Handling the different versions of the drawings and keeping them in a sequential manner for future reference.

· Collaborate with Asset Management and participate in identifying, developing and tracking improvements in MAximo EAMS functionality and associated business processes and workflows.

· Design or prepare graphic representations of GIS data, using GIS hardware or
software applications, according to RUS (Rural Utility Services) standards.

· Convert data collected from field operations into GIS database with proper and
accurate spatial location.

· Interpret aerial photography or imagery

· Analyze GIS data to identify spatial relationships and/or display results of analyses,
using maps, graphs, or tabular data.

· Enter data into GIS databases, using techniques such as coordinate geometry,
keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, scanning or automatic
conversion to vectors, or conversion of other sources of digital data.

· Maintain or modify existing GIS databases.

· Perform complex drafting work under minimum supervision.

· Review existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or
completeness of documentation.

· Assure consistency with company-wide standards and practices for data conversion,
data maintenance and upgrades.

· Prepare quotes based on construction costs for new builds

· Provide technical support within the company to users regarding the maintenance,
development, or operation of GIS databases, equipment, or applications

Professional knowledge in ArcGIS Application and Programming

Proficiency in AutoCAD is a plus.

Education/Experience Required

· Bachelor of Science in Geography/Civil Engineering or Computer Science

· Five (5) years of related experience. Preferably with GCC experience.
