Goals:
The IB PYP Coordinator is a key leadership position and is responsible for the administration and development of the IB PYP program in grades K to 5. Together with the school administration, the IB PYP coordinator is involved in the whole school implementation of the IB and is the direct point of contact with the IBO.
Responsibilities:
1.Leadership
Support and mentor new PYP teachers in the classroom.
Provide learning engagement input and feedback for PYP teachers as requested and when possible.
Provide opportunities for teachers to observe one another in practice. And support them through regular classroom visits.
Communication
-Be an active part of the Senior Leadership Team of the Elementary School and provide feedback about the progress and development of the PYP.
-Keep the leadership regularly informed of PYP developments.
-Assist teams in planning for the PYP during regularly scheduled planning meetings.
-Maintain communication between the School and the IB.
-Ensure that curriculum-related parent meetings and workshop opportunities are provided.
-Ensure that all PYP teachers have access to the IB Online Curriculum Centre (OCC).
-Communicate newly published PYP documents to all PYP teachers.
-Contribute to the presentation and promotion of the academic program within the Academy
Professional Development
-Provide induction to the PYP for new PYP teachers.
-In consultation with the leadership of the school، identify areas for professional development، and plan internal and external workshops accordingly.
-Communicate relevant PYP professional development opportunities for staff.
-Review Professional Development (PD) applications from teachers and forward to relevant member of the leadership team; register PYP teachers for IB PD through IBIS.
-Ensure that all PYP teachers have access to the reporting guidelines and provide assistance.
Curriculum
-Provide PYP teachers with relevant PYP curriculum documentation
-Provide guidance for PYP teachers in understanding PYP Scope and Sequence documents.
-Ensure that PYP teachers understand how to use the PYP unit planner.
-Ensure that curriculum documentation is up-to-date.
-Liaise with the principal and، when warranted the Head، regarding PYP curriculum issues.
-Oversee the review of the Program of Inquiry on an annual basis، and submit report to the leadership team.
Documentation and Resource Management
-Keep copies of all correspondence with the IB, including forms, documents and reports.
-Assist the leadership team in determining main curriculum resources and other needs for professional development; and in placing resource orders.
-Ensure that teachers keep long-range plans for the PYP up to date.
-In advance، notify the accounts department of IB payments.
-Prepare and submit any documentation required for authorization and evaluation.
-Ensure that all requirements and procedures set by the IB concerning the Program are adhered to.
المهارات
1. Current and appropriate teaching certification.
2. BA or BS degree with a major in elementary education or the equivalent.
3. Successful teaching experience.
4. Experienced and knowledgeable about the PYP program.
5. Bilingual in both the Arabic and English language; a 3rd language would be seen as an asset.
6. Skilled in educational leadership and able to inspire others.
