The inventory controller is responsible managing a company’s warehouse or similar facility and its inventory.
His/her job description involves leading a team of warehouse or inventory workers in receiving and recording new stocks that come in.
Main Duties
• Controlling stock levels based on forecasts for the season;
• Using ERP software to produce sales projections and present spreadsheets and graphs;
• Develop plan & optimized schedule for periodical inventory checks in branch stores and warehouses;
• Execute and supervise periodical inventory checks in all branches and warehouses;
• Create and analyze inventory data and develop reports and present to management;
• Identify inventory loss causes based on analysis of inventory checks;
• Prepare inventory documentation: this involves accurately recording type, quantity, quality, and other features of inventory for a clear understanding of the state of the stocks
• Ensure that inventories are constantly up to standards
• Ensure that whatever merchandise are received meet order specifications
• Apply strategic thinking by continuously improving the new store inventory process to support aggressive store growth plans.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring all key functions related to inventory transactions to ensure they are accurate.
• Document stocks delivery and supervise their movement into operational processing or position
• Ensure maintenance of optimal levels of stock for availability as the need arises
• Ensure proper management of aging and excess stocks
• Review service levels regularly and reconcile inventories
• Recommend operational policies and goals to company’s management
• Respond to complaints and queries concerning inventories and products
• Attend to inquiries concerning products and inventories
• Carry out inventory control to ensure inventories are at optimal levels.
• Report and analyze data and present results to the CEO when necessary
• Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures
• Ensure product stock is adequate for all distribution channels and can cover demand of all stores
• Use software to monitor demand and document characteristics of inventory
• Place orders to replenish stock avoiding insufficiencies or excessive surplus
• Analyze data to anticipate future needs
• Collaborate with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met
• Report to upper management on stock levels, issues etc.
• Maintain records for inventory accuracy trends, inventory reconciliations, and inventory audit.
• Work cross-functionally using marketing forecasts/usage data to continuously optimize inventory plans for both finished and in process inventory to maximize operational efficiency and reduce lead time.

• Lead inventory and continuous improvement projects.
• Weekly / monthly reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
• Analyze inventory management systems and procedures and their results, recommending changes, writing modifications, and coordinating their implementation to improve integrity, control, and the capability to meet company objectives.
• Oversee for relative functions, the development and use of metrics for effective management and performance measurement.
• Provide technical guidance to personnel on inventory management systems, and oversee personnel training in the effective use and understanding of these systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
