Ensure that the department objectives are effectively communicated across the department and a line of sight is created between individual jobholders and the departmental / sector strategy.
Assist in the day-to-day operations of the respective unit by providing expertise, encouraging and ensuring teamwork and aligning work processes in order to achieve high performance standards, meet established targets and objectives, and ensure employee engagement in a motivated work environment.
Present evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
Select jurors, argue motions, meet with judges and question witnesses during the course of a trial.
Study constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases.
Update the modifications in the Sharia law in conjunction with the company policies.
Contribute to the development of Legal Affairs policies, procedures and guidelines and participate in overseeing its implementation.
Prepare and recommend the ‘Legal Affairs’ related department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget to highlight any variances for effective alignment.
Ensure outcomes from legal research and past cases are taken into account when relevant for the formulation of new cases and provision of legal advice.
Document all legal standings of the company, related cases and proceedings to ensure VIVA is fully protected and well presented in the public domain including courts of justice.
Interpret and explain provisions of applicable laws and regulations to Company staff so that they understand the implications of legal cases thoroughly and accurately.
Provide quality advice to the Company on laws and regulations ensuring all legal angles are studied effectively to ensure the company is safe from any legal risks.
Follow-up on all law suits with the related law firms to ensure all legal cases are handled and closed in a timely and proficient manner.
Ensure the Company’s position is well-represented and protected in courts of Justice to deliver the Company effectively from all legal cases against the company.
Coordinate with collections as well as the legal firms for collection of all bad debts to ensure no collections are pending from customers to keep the company free form any possible legal actions.
Recommend standardization in templates and formats of legal and law related documents / formats used internally within the Company.
Generate regular and special reports for the management that summarize and forecast legal activities and financial position of Legal Affairs and escalate critical issues.
