JOB PURPOSE: Manage, maintain and take ownership of the assigned Product manufacturing processes, procedures and recipes documents.

Manage and take ownership of product development projects, which focus on the definition and / or improvement of existing product designs and their applications and the development of new products. Define, qualify, document and implement improvements to the manufacturing process.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Know-how Package

Generate, compile and take ownership of, a set of documents covering the Product(s) manufacturing processes, procedures and recipes
Product Development projects

Define, plan, supervise and be responsible for the timely execution of allocated product development projects related to the development of new products, to be incorporated in the Product range
Expert advice

Supply expert advice to Product Managers, Component Designers and third parties with regards to technical feasibility and design of piping components
Process Support

Advise / assist the operating companies with their process related queries and provide “trouble – shooting” solutions when needed
Manufacturing process improvements

Define possible improvements to the manufacturing process
Agree on the required qualification testing program
Document the findings and implement the improvements in case of favourable test results
SPAN OF Communication:

Internal:Product Manager; Engineering Division; Internal departments required: Production / QA/QC / TSS / operating companies and PED

External: Clients, consultants, contractors, universities, laboratories, & Suppliers

Job relevant information

The jobholder is responsible for the timely execution of the allocated projects, within their allocated budget.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering
Preferred Experience:

Minimum 8 years in engineering related activities in a large industrial manufacturing organisation
A minimum of 4 years of experience in a fibreglass pipe / composite manufacturing environment is required
Job-Specific Skills:

Understanding of the fibreglass piping industry.
Knowledge of types, properties and behaviours of Raw Materials used in the fibreglass piping industry.
Knowledge of the applicable manufacturing techniques and processes.
Ability to understand and link theoretical possibilities to practical limitations.
Good communicator & planner.
Analytical thinking.
Ability to persuade people.
Ability to understand / learn composite design & process related issues
