Senior Manager Release Management & Disaster Recovery

Job Purpose

Job holder is a Technocrat with hands on experiences in technology (AIX, Linux, Windows, IIS, IBM WAS) and will own the Release Management life cycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the enterprise for multiple applications across various portfolios.
The releases can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, deployment is done using tools and services in facilitating deployment of releases into production, DR and UAT, on his own without dependency on other teams or team members, must have experience and working knowledge on systems administration (Administrator role for Windows, Linux, AIX and Web technologies).
The job holder drives/ leads IT Disaster Recovery team.

Key Accountabilities

Formulates plan and release applications based on windows, Linux, Aix and cycles across a portfolio.
Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality.
Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are made/ delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations.
Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates.
Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes.
Other Accountabilities

Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No- Go reviews.
Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
Weekly Release Reporting.
Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges.
Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.
Lead and co-ordinate DR activation, RM, Implement DR policies through DR arrangements such as regular data backups; secure data archival; backup restoration; secure on- and off-site storage of backup media; provision of alternative IT processing facilities, networks, etc.

Graduate in Computer Science or Information Technology
ITIL Foundation Level
Experience and Skills

Cobit 5
Work Experience 2-6 years in following domains: Windows Linux AIX IIS, WebSphere, Jbose (Solid technical hands on deployment and understanding of release management and roll back procedures).
Knowledge, Skills and Expertise

Formal training in project management practices preferred, Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle Demonstrate ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion Demonstrate effective leadership and analytical skills Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must General Server technologies on hardware and OS Good command of English. Good Communications skills. Technical writing Software Troubleshooting.
