Millwright Fitter for Machine Shop

Job Purpose:
Mechanical repair, Install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawings in Machine Shop

Key Accountability:
1. Preventive & break down maintenance of Machinery, Cranes & Compressors
2. Manufacture, Modify machinery to suit special machining requirements
3. Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
4. Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
5. Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
6. Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
7. Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures.
8. Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
9. Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
10. Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to installation site, usually performing installation and maintenance work as part of team.
11. Construct foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials such as steel.

Knowledge Skills and Experience:

• Qualifications: High school with ITI /NCVT (Millwright Fitter) Preferred
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as Millwright Fitter in a Machine Shop or Tool Room. Should be able to read Autocad ( electrical / hydraulic ) drawings
