JOB Description Referenceable track record of 10+ years as ERP functional specialist or ERP functional advisor in global ERP product evaluations, implementations and rollout Proven implementation experience in Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 ERP products (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, JD Edwards, NetSuite, QAD, Sage etc) in the specialist domain (Finance Management) Prior experience in shaping and implementing a large scale (global) ERP strategy would be considered an asset
JOB PURPOSE Portfolio Technical Product Management is the “front door” to technology. Providing a single view of demand/scope across a large enterprise wide product portfolio. The Senior Technical Product Manager within the technology Product Management team serves as an expert within a specific function, evangelising the vision for the domain(s). The role requires deep subject matter expertise in researching new products and tools, and identifying emerging new domains. Through challenging current thinking they look beyond existing methodologies to define and resolve complex problems. Through thought leadership they are active in raising the profile of the technology teams externally. They have a good understanding of both the business/customer needs, and use this knowledge to make design and implementation recommendations and decisions. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES LINKED TO OBJECTIVE AREAS (MAXIMUM OF 10) Responsible for the “What”, “How’, “Why” in technology terms driving ‘sequence’ and ‘scope’ for a significant and strategic technology product/platform. As an industry expert in a specified business area in terms of technology, support the wider Product Owner organisation within their domains. Identify risks, issues and opportunities of significant strategic and tactical impact to the business. Drive incisive and clear analysis of complex initiatives to produce substantial benefits for the company. Analyse the worth of multiple initiatives in order to prioritise the global roadmap and leading multidisciplinary and multi-domain requirements gathering exercises and data analysis across inter-dependant products. Continually monitor vendors and competitors to identify changes in their solution offering and strategies. Understand, explain and drive the product strategy and objectives. Responsible for executing high value initiatives across technology, commercial, marketing and operations in line with the specialisation. Proactively identify and solve complex customer problems that impact on the direction of the business Each Principal Technical Product Owner must also establish the minimum Metrics needed to assure: The implementation of the strategy, that spending aligns with the agreed-upon boundaries that results are continually improving. Understands the long term investment strategy for the product and captures long term business needs as well as the associated Enterprise Architecture Roadmaps that will require implementation within the product backlog. Provides long term product roadmap to business stakeholders associated with the assigned Product. Evaluates the business case for product roadmap investments and provides value propositions that will enable the business to leverage industry direction. As the in-depth subject matter expert in the product and of the interaction design process, define the overall global product vision. Significantly influence the technology strategy for defined technology Product. Deliver convincing presentations to the business covering both business and customer issues and summarise complex information for unfamiliar audiences. Act as an ambassador for the defined specialism across the technology team and create a network of Product Owners through a community of practice to build expertise across the organisation. Manage stakeholder expectations and weigh their needs against wider business benefits and act as a recognised and valued expert across the business up to Executive level and demonstrate to business stakeholders that product investments will meet business needs. Lead post launch evaluations of initiatives, ensuring the business value is measured and align with the business that it is adopted and realised Responsible for developing skills of others through coaching, motivating colleagues and resolving conflicts, building a culture of support and accountability without having direct reports by being a Servant Leader, leading by example, sharing knowledge and best practices. Establish position as a thought leader and technical expert in the Product specialism and coach and mentor a team of high performing IT product professionals, providing continuous feedback and facilitating professional development. Nurture and attract Product Owners and Managers and be a technical product leader with continuous coaching for agile teams that promotes a culture of failing fast, learning and moving forward. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS Qualifications: Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) In a relevant domain e.g. Operations Research, Marketing, Science, Information Systems, e-Commerce Experience: SAFe trained and certified but with 10+ years of practical application of the Technology Product Management or Solution Design discipline Previous experience being accountable for a strategic Business Technology Platform in an Enterprise (not just a software product development company) where there are multiple business stakeholders and high levels of integration with other products Deep domain knowledge within specific areas of industry (business and technical systems) and presented as an industry expert in the specialist domain. Preferred experience in agile delivery A track record of successful Technical Product Management at scale across multiple businesses, B2C and B2B, meeting the key business objectives in a robust, scalable, cost effective manner Hands-on technical leader with strong communication skills
