Senior Hydrologist - Expression of Interest

Job Description and Requirements
Wood is currently looking to recruit a PMC Senior Hydrologist to work on a PMC assignment with our client TPCL. The Senior Hydrologist will need to assess the potential impact of water flow through channels, wadis on the design and integrity of the onshore gas pipeline being routed through such areas. Successful candidate will need to perform the below duties;

Wood PMC team will execute the work from client office in Dubai. The project is expected to continue for 3-4 years.

Overview / Responsibilities

Analyse the effect of environmental changes on water flow
Study the effects on flows brought about by changes in land use, such as afforestation or crop irrigation
Plan responses to specific weather conditions, such as droughts and floods, and assess the impacts of such events on water catchments and supplies
Undertake hydrological modelling to allow the development of flood forecasting and drought management strategy
Assist in the planning of water resource development by forecasting and monitoring water usage and rainfall
Estimate water yields, taking into account the utilisation of water in a specific natural drainage area (‘catchment’)
Assess the relationship between rainfall, run off, and soil and rock features for the catchment
Investigate factors affecting acidity, nitrate levels or other diffuse pollution of surface water
Calculate and audit water resource systems and analyse this data
Determine licences for companies and bodies requesting to use river resources
Deal with enquiries from external bodies and individuals, such as water regulators, consultants and researchers
Provide project-management consultancy in installing new river flow gauges
Oversee data collection on-site by hydro metrists and other staff
Supervise the collection, processing and evaluation of data for water resource planning and flood management
Develop computer systems to improve the efficiency of data collection and analysis

Bachelor Degree in Hydrology or other related discipline
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience mainly in Oil and Gas / river crossing / Pipeline projects
Required to complete Flood Risk Assessments, Surface Water Management Plans, Catchment Management Plans, Flood Estimation, Rainfall Analysis, Hydrological Assessments, GIS Mapping, Drainage Strategy and Hydraulic Modelling using Tuflow and Flood Modeller.
With software experience (or equivalent) in: (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GSSHA, SWMM, FEH, ISIS, TUFLOW, MIKE 11, MIKE Flood, both steady-state and dynamic, including dam breach, ArcGIS and AutoCAD) is an asset
Must have project management skills with ability to track timelines, meet budgets and schedules
With previous PMC / Operators experience is required
