A leading foreign university is seeking a Student Counsellor based in Dubai to create a caring Campus environment that recognises and supports the diversity of students.

Description
Provide welfare counselling to students on matters such as academic policy and progression, as well as pastoral care issues including: living skills, health issues, dealing with social stress and anxiety, employment, and advice on campus and university policy and proceduresDevelop, implement and monitor programs that promote well-being and engagement of studentsManage critical incidents involving students by consulting Critical Incident Management Group and refer students to external agencies for support if requiredCollaborate with partner university, professional organisations and government agencies on issues relation to support and referralMonitor welfare and safety of students Under 18 with relevant legislation and be a contact officer for student emergenciesLiaise with students about accommodation, well being and guardianshipParticipate as a member of Appeals Committee and manage the student voice mechanism

Profile

Qualifications
Relevant bachelor’s degree and/or formal counselling qualificationAt least 3-4 years of similar experienceExperience in working within higher education environment would be a plusStrong communication and high interpersonal skillsProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work with minimal supervision and effectively monitor and coordinate workloadGood knowledge of workplace health and safety as well as the ability to integrate it in daily tasks
