Design Manager

Design Manager holds a key position in the project as his active participation involve throughout the design development of the project. He provides overall design direction to design team as per the major delivery milestones, monitors on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations; monitors risks/problems and helps develop options to resolve. The Design Manager is responsible for inter-disciplinary coordination, discussion with all relevant authorities / stakeholders, involve in meeting with client, monitor scope development and scope management to meet project goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists Project Manager for establishment of Project Management Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan and other documents required to accomplish design development or construction execution.
Captures Client Vision and Project intent during design development or construction execution.
Negotiates changes to the scope of work.
Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with the project.
Works with the Project Manager, Project Engineers, other managers and discipline leads to coordinate budgets, schedules and plans for the various elements of a project.
Participates in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of projects.
Active coordination with all discipline leads involved in the project. Lists major milestone deliverables and establishes the program for accomplishment and monitors the deliverables.
Distributes design template, design guidelines and standards among design leads to maintain consistency and harmony in design and drawings. Holds weekly coordination meeting with design team, monitor progress and resolves the design issues.
Supports design team for preparation of design reports, drawings, specifications and tender documents. Participates in bid evaluation and assists client for selection of the Contractor.
Assigns responsibility for executing project plans to key subordinates after careful assessment of how to utilize their qualifications and strengths. Provides input to performance reviews and development plans for subordinates.
Identifies the needs for specialist resources to create project teams capable of completing effective and quality work.
Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes. Monitors and reports on the progress of all project activity including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule. Establishes weekly meeting to review project status and to formulate action items.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

المهارات
Engineering degree as a minimum and master’s in engineering is preferable.
Thorough knowledge of local design guidelines, industry practices and authority regulations is preferred.
15 years of total work experience in design consultancy firm in this region and project management of large-scale development projects.
Professional registration is preferred.
Proven ability to perform in a management capacity, excellent written and oral communication skills.
