Job Description and Requirements
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is an independent, public, state-owned, non-profit, coeducational institution in the United Arab Emirates that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. AURAK provides comprehensive academic programs based on the North American model and the cultural characteristics of the Gulf region. AURAK has been officially licensed by the UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).  All of the University’s 22 academic programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). In addition, AURAK is accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). All instruction at the university is in English.  The School of Business offers five undergraduate programs (BS in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Finance, Accounting, and Marketing), and two graduate programs (MBA and Executive MBA). The school has been granted eligibility to pursue accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and has begun its journey to initial accreditation.  We invite applications for the following position for Fall 2019: Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation The person appointed to this position will be responsible for teaching multiple sections of the new General Education course ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ (UNIV 200) and will also be responsible for overseeing the development of an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center located in the new RAK Bank School of Business Building so that it can provide both incubator and accelerator support services for local entrepreneurs. In addition to demonstrating the potential for teaching excellence, the faculty member hired to this position must have at least five years managerial experience with a particular focus in start-ups and new business development.  All AURAK faculty must also engage in service to the university, the school and the community.  The Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation will be appointed at a faculty rank appropriate to the position and the individual’s experience and qualifications.  Qualifications and requirements:  (1) At least a master’s degree in business from an accredited university; (2) At least five years managerial experience with a particular focus in start-ups and new business development; (3) A capacity to inspire interest in innovation and entrepreneurship and engage students in active learning in this field; (4) A willingness to collaborate with other faculty in the university who have an interest in being credentialed to teach sections of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship course (UNIV 200) that cannot be covered by the person in this position (5) An ability to build support networks for the establishment of an entrepreneurial ecosystem.  The region:  Located at the mouth of the Gulf, Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) was once the historical capital of the region. RAK boasts many outdoor attractions, with plenty of places for leisure, water sports, hiking and mountain climbing, and other athletic pursuits, all within a safe and family-oriented environment. Away from frenzied traffic and rush of the larger cities, but still well-developed, RAK is a quiet but vibrant Emirate.
