Job Description Exciting PhD Position in a funded project entitled “Effect of ritual slaughter of camels on efficiency of slaughter, animal welfare and meat quality” as part of camel research program at College of Food and Agriculture, UAE University is available. In this research project we are planning to describe Nahr and Halal slaughter of camels and cattle in terms of anatomical and physiological changes, developing methods to measure ischemia and loss of consciousness and improve the slaughter efficiency of Nahr for better quality of meat and humane slaughter. As an enthusiastic and innovative PhD candidate you will join the Food Science PhD Program, which is a 4-year funded program at the United Arab Emirates University. The key laboratory techniques required include corrosion cast, radiological verification, EEG pattern, meat quality analysis etc. The project would suit a veterinarian (anatomist or neurologist) or animal science student by training with strong lab skills and preferably experience in anatomy, radiology or neurology lab technique. The scholarship is available immediately. Please note that the successful candidate must have a first-class honor Master’s degree by thesis (GPA >3.3/4) and Academic IELTS score of 6.5. Minimum Qualification Applicant must have an earned a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine or related discipline. Minimum GPA in MSc should be >3.3 out of 4 and IELTS score of 6.5 or above.
Preferred Qualification Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine/Animal/Food Science with thesis on relevant topic to the project (preferable).
