Dental X-Ray Technician

Job Description and Requirements
Job Responsibilities

Provide chair side assistance to dentists and/or dental hygienists in the performance of dental procedures, to include operative, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, and/or oral surgical procedures.
Assist in teaching and guiding students in some practical experiments in College of Dentistry laboratories.
Prepare, sterilize, organize, set up dental equipment, ensure that all dental instruments are cleaned and processed according to established clinical guidelines and standards.
Develop and process dental radiographs in accordance with provider orders; assist in the monitoring and maintenance of radiation safety procedures and protocols.
Follow and maintain all relevant institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards for the provision of dental clinic services.
Order and maintain inventories of dental clinic supplies.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Three years of experience in a similar field.
Skills required

Current knowledge of and ability to follow a full range of dental clinical procedures and protocols.
Ability to work as a team member within a clinical environment.
Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
Knowledge of institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient services.
Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of dental equipment in accordance with prescribed procedures and standards.
Knowledge of radiation safety procedures, standards, and protocols.
Ability to develop and process dental radiographs.
Records maintenance skills.
Knowledge of sterile procedures.
Good written and spoken skills in the English Language.
