The Civil Technician- Masonry and Painting reports directly to the Hard-Technical Services Coordinator
Participate in overtime, shift work and/or out of hours working as governed by the necessity to maintain continuity of operations
Participate in emergency on-call service during non-working hours, weekends and public holidays
Masonry :
• Knowledge of related tools, masonry techniques, equipment and materials
• Make sure all new work, maintenance as well as repair work is completed to the required standard
• Assist in preparing cost estimates for civil engineering (painting and masonry)
• Make sure the correct quality and quantity of materials are used for any building
• Prepare detailed building specifications for all civil engineering work
• Make sure the building specifications as well as drawings are adhered to ensure all work is within the cost estimate and completed on time
• Any other related tasks as may be required
Painting :
• Preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint
• Mixing, matching, and applying paints and other finishes to various surfaces
• Providing decorative and faux finishes as the project requires
• Handling planning and prep work in an efficient manner
• Preparing the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic to prevent unnecessary damage or mess
• Moving furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project
• Calculating the amount of materials and time required for said project
• Removing fixtures such as door knobs and light switch covers
• Taping off areas as needed
• Knowledge and awareness of paint codes
• Choosing and purchasing paint, brushes, and other supplies from vendors
• Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete
