The Department/ College
The College of Natural and Health Sciences aspires to international distinction in research and academic output across all fields related to Environmental Sustainability, Psychology and Health Sciences. The college aims to produce passionate graduates who combine scientific knowledge with skills in leadership and innovation to meet national objectives.
The College currently employs 47 faculty members and 10 staff across 3 departments. We offer a wide range of undergraduate courses in three different majors resulting in either a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Life and Environmental Science; BSc in Public Health and Nutrition or a BSc in Psychology. In addition, CNHS also offer a Minor in Public Health and a minor in Applied Psychology.
The department of Life and Environmental Sciences in the College of Natural and Health Sciences (CNHS) at Zayed University (ZU) offers undergraduate students a bachelor of science (BSc) in Environmental Science and Sustainability (ESS). The ESS program was established in response to the UAE’s rapidly expanding environmental needs for graduates with a broad multidisciplinary approach to identifying and addressing the complex, intertwined requirements of modern society while maintaining a sustainable relationship to the natural environment. The department offers a high quality, interdisciplinary program that prepares undergraduate students with the knowledge and skills to assume professional roles to address local and global environmental issues in line with the UAE’s National Strategic Plan 2021 for sustainable environment and infrastructure.

The Opportunity
The Department of life & Environmental Sciences invites applications for a full time position in Biology.  Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to the goal of developing environmental scientists and managers for the U.A.E. and to display leadership in curriculum development and research.  Faculty is sought who can offer high-quality teaching and research in areas such as Biology, and related introductory science courses, and help develop innovative interdisciplinary courses and programs.
The Requirements
Candidates should have a PhD at the time of appointment in Biology, Environmental Biology, Oceanography, Molecular Biology from a recognized university, and the capacity to teach and research in an interdisciplinary environment. Evidence of teaching and research excellence and experience is important along with a student-centered and innovative approach to teaching. Preference will be given to those able to teach introductory courses at the undergraduate level, as well as help develop programs.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
• Environmental Biology
• Biology, ecology, oceanography (e.g coral reef, genomics)
