Jo Summary

Performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning,
sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

o Will perform the ordering, receipt, storage and distribution of sterile stock.
o Accurately carry out daily tests on the sterilizer at start of machine use.
o Checking instruments / sets when received and returned from users to ensure all items are presents and in good working condition.
o Reporting any missing item immediately to the unit supervisor / and user.
o Informing the Cssd Supervisor about any incident of missing equipment.
o Identify equipment which cannot go through the machinery and ensure it is traceable to other processes.
o Constantly ensure a sufficient supply of chemical in the machines and workplace.
o Readily maintain the cleanliness of the equipment’s-loader & carriages etc. and work area.
o Competently use the correct machinery for the cleaning of equipment.
o Competently make use of air & water gun in the cleaning of equipment.
o Proper disposal of all clinical waste /sharp materials.
o Replace Chemical to machine when needed.
o Process equipment into the correct set (traceability).
o Wrap and accurately label equipment using the appropriate packaging method.
o Completely handle trolleys to transport and transfer equipment’s.
o Distribute on a regular basis to theatres using correct trolleys.
o Ensure all work is carried out correctly and timely manner.
o Readily follow all department policies and procedures.
o Follow all Quality control / processes / techniques / procedure in the execution of the department’s sterilization process.
o Testing and lubricating of instruments.
o Rotation of sterile items- having an understanding to event related sterility.
o Testing and lubricating of instruments.
o Attending Training and development (Cne) to meet Haad licensing Requirement.
o Accurate documentation of sets/ all instruments.
